Are you also curious about fellow K-Pop fans?! Let's hear their stories and interests in Kpopmap Fan Interview Project.

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other's stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Sof is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from The Philippines and is a fan of THE BOYZ, and particularly of Kevin! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hi! I am Sof from the Philippines.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I started stanning THE BOYZ after seeing their "REVEAL (Catching Fire)" performance in "Road to Kingdom".

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

I grew to love THE BOYZ because of how great they are as performers. I loved them more after diving deep into their variety and reality shows and saw their personalities beyond what people see in their music show or award show performances.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

Eric was the one who caught my attention at first because of him crying during PENTAGON's "Shine + Spring Snow" performance.

Who is your bias, and why?

I have a lot of biases in THE BOYZ, but I cannot lie that I have a special love for THE BOYZ's Kevin. Why? What’s there not to love about the man? His voice is heavenly, he’s great at performing, he’s very creative (literally a Creative Director for two of their albums), very relatable (in the sense of he knows how its like to be a fan because he’s a BIG fan of Beyonce), and so much more.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

If I can recommend a title track and a B-side for new fans, I would recommend 'REVEAL' as the title track, and 'Spring Snow' for the B-side, both are on their first full album, "REVEAL".

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or content video of your bias to our readers?

If I could recommend a content video of Kevin Moon, I would recommend his Billie Eilish cover of 'Bury A Friend', which he also performed in their 5th Anniversary Fancon, "THE B-ROAD".

Kevin's guesting on "K-Pop Daebak With Eric Nam" is good too!

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

For THE BOYZ, I would recommend watching their "REVEAL (Catching Fire)" performance in "Road to Kingdom" or their "O Sole Mio (The Red Wedding)", which is originally SF9's song, in "KINGDOM: LEGENDARY WAR".

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

My favorite lyrics from THE BOYZ is actually Kevin’s line in ‘Spring Snow’ that goes "항상 고마워, 내게 다가와 준 너." ["I’m always grateful, for you who came to me"]. It hits home because I discovered THE BOYZ during one of my dark moments and I biased Kevin during one of my lowest point. THE BOYZ, especially Kevin, is the reason why I am still here. I will always be thankful for him.

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

I really resonate with a something Kevin has said on V Live once, and I know many people would too, “It’s okay to be in a state where you fell not well. It’s okay to feel sad, it’s okay to cry. There’s nothing wrong with that. We are all human.”

What's your favourite 2022 moment involving your bias?

Hands down, when I and numerous Moonlights (Kevin’s subfandom) gifted him a Moonflower bouquet for his birthday, and he showed it on V Live.A Filipino THE B Talks About Her Favorite Group THE BOYZ And Her Bias Kevin

Can you recommend words that your bias like to hear to new fans who don't know yet about it?

New THE Bs tend to see Kevin as the "meme" guy most of the time because he got famous for many catchphrases like "Can I get a hoya?" or "Jesus take the wheel". I hope new fans would not just see him as the "meme" guy and appreciate him as an artist and his craft. There’s this one V Live of Kevin where he read encouraging and sweet messages from the fans’ comments; for him, that was the most part, thanking him. He thanked the fans, too, for being there for him and THE BOYZ. After that, he went off-screen because he got teary-eyed. Just send him sweet messages; he reads it all :).

If you are collecting goods, what is your most precious treasure

For me, I have two most precious treasures. It's this signed Thrill-ing Tumbler Cup. It has SangYeon’s, Jacob’s, New’s, and Q’s signatures. Another will be this Kevin and Eric photocard from "THE B JAPAN". A picture of these two members from this specific photoshoot is my all-time favorite photo from THE BOYZ.A Filipino THE B Talks About Her Favorite Group THE BOYZ And Her Bias Kevin

Do you have dream sub-unit/unit?

Honestly, I would LOVE to see a MoonBae (THE BOYZ Kevin and Jacob) unit or a collab with other Canadian K-idols like P1Harmony’s KeeHo, or even EPIK HIGH’s Tablo for a feature.

Please recommend your favorite selfie by your bias.

What do you have in common with your favourite idol?

I have so many, but the thing that hit close to home is the one he answered in his Identity Film “Generation Z : Kevin” where he was asked “Do you tend to hide yourself from others?”. He answered, “No... But when I’m with people, I find myself pretending to be a version of myself that I think the other person wants me to be.” This hits close because I tend to be like that too most of the time.

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

What has my favorite group/bias influence on my daily life? Focusing on Kevin, he pushes me to do my best in college. Because he himself got in to one of the most prestigious universities in Canada (even with just for 4 days before eventually dropping out to pursue "K-Pop Star 6"), it gives me the motivation that I can also do well.

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

My favorite side of fangirling is getting to see for myself the growth and rise to success of my favorite group. It makes me proud seeing them win awards and get acknowledged by people.

Have you ever made a new friend because of K-Pop?

I have made so many new friends because of KPOP. Actually, I met one of my dearest friends that I have and that I really treasure because of Kevin. Shoutout to Kevitos and especially to Kevin’s dedicated and hardworking updates and translations account, Jimin (I call her Mimi) @mooneybees on Twitter.

Sof's message for Kevin:

If I could send a message for THE BOYZ's Kevin, it would be a phrase that I always use just for him. “Remember, you are my moon, and I’ll be your forever moonlight”.

Thank you for answering our questions, Sof.
