A MAXIMUM From The UK Shares Her Love For MEGAMAX, And Why You Should Love Them Too

Emma is a MAXIMUM who wishes to help K-Pop fans around the world get to know MEGAMAX!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hello! My name is Emma. I am 18, and I am from the East Midlands in the United Kingdom!

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I joined the fandom in late 2021, around November time! I had been a fan of their member, JiNi since 2018, and I was wondering what he was up to, which is when I saw that he had debuted in MEGAMAX! The first thing I had seen was their performance of their title track, 'Painted÷LOVE:)' on "The Show", and I thought that the song was really refreshing to listen to, and the dance was fun to watch! After listening to all of the tracks on their debut album, I was confident that I wanted to be a fan!

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

I really love MEGAMAX, music-wise, because of their fresh, and youthful concept as a group! Their music brings a different feel to a lot of other boy groups, in my opinion. As well as this, I am partially deaf, and the arrangements of their music really makes it easier for me to listen, without the instrumental being too loud compared to their voices, or everything just sounding mushed together. As well as this, the members are really sweet, and talented! They do their best to keep interacting with MAXIMUMs, which I think is really touching!

Who caught your attention at first and why?

Definitely Kan! When I saw him dancing, I really liked his energy, and I thought that the way he danced was really cool! But RoHan also caught my eye! His vocals are really beautiful, and I felt like I couldn't get enough of his voice.

Who is your bias, and why?

There are so many unique reasons as to why I love each member, so picking a bias is really difficult! But, I think I would choose JiNi at the moment! He is really entertaining, and in terms of performing, I think he suits the group's concept the best, and I am truly grateful that he joined the group!

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

For the title track, I would recommend 'Painted÷LOVE:)', but even more specifically its Orchestra version! I find the arrangement really beautiful, and as someone who loves classical music, seeing that they had included this in their debut album pleasantly surprised me! Though if you are not a fan of orchestras, the English and Korean versions of the song give you a beautiful mix of vocals, raps, and an instrumental that feels like you're breathing fresh air! Listening to the song in June will also get you in the mood for summer!

For their B-Side, I would actually recommend the intro song to their album! The raps are really impressive to listen to, with some lines that are very catchy, and RoHan's vocals are really powerful! The song is a big contrast from the rest of the album, and a lot more rap-based than the rest of the tracks, but it gets you pumped up with energy, ready to hear the songs that are to come!

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

Just recently, JiNi posted a dance cover of IVE's 'I Am' on his Instagram, and his expressions and energy in the video is really entertaining to watch! He also looks really cool in it ><.

Can you also recommend a content video by the group?

I would recommend this behind talk video from the "2022 Poweful Daegu K-Pop Concert Re;START"! You get to learn more about the members while also learning more about their strengths and talents! The video is really entertaining, and can put a smile on your face!

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

One of my favourite lyrics are from Iden's rap in 'Painted÷LOVE:)', where he raps, "I was used to seeing red, now all I see is blue." I use colours a lot to express how I feel, and I find it beautiful when songs include this technique. The lyric shows that he had once felt love and passion with his partner, but now, he only feels sadness, or anxiety around them.

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

A week ago from me writing this, Kan had posted on his Instagram story saying, "We all need to be happy!" For me, those words really meant a lot, and motivated me to begin thinking positively through my day-to-day life, even if it's just one thought about something positive that happened that day.

What is your first comment on a live broadcast of your bias?

Back in 2020, I had watched one of JiNi's Instagram lives! I commented, asking for one of his favorite songs, and he had mentioned 'Yanghwa BRDG' by Zion.T, and began to sing it! That was a really special moment for me.

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

In my day-to-day life, MEGAMAX's music helps me feel calm if I start to get worked up or overwhelmed about something, and when the members hold Instagram lives, or post on their social media, it gives me a boost of happiness! I also run a MEGAMAX discord server, which helps me stay connected to other MAXIMUMs, and that makes me happy.

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

A lot of people think that, just because a group isn't popular, their music is bad. This really is not the case at all! There are so many hidden gems in the industry, and it is just a struggle to give groups from smaller companies the promotion and recognition that they deserve.
