K-Pop Stars Who Were Actually Banned From Speaking In Public By Their Agencies

Imagine if you were banned from speaking in public. It already feels quite uncomfortable right?

Such was the case with INFINITE member L, Super Junior‘s HeeChul, and actress Go Ara, as they recently talked about how they were forbidden by their agencies from speaking too much in public. The three stars shared their experience in the past on ‘Knowing Bros.’.

L explained that his agency, Woollim Entertainment, wanted him to have a handsome and mysterious vibe. This was the reason why his agency instructed him not to speak and even not to laugh. He revealed that he had to turn around sometimes or hide in order to let out his laughter during funny moments.

In Go Ara’s case, her former agency SM Entertainment wanted her to to behave like a doll and think like a doll, as the agency wanted to push a ‘living doll’ concept for her. This meant that she had to intentionally seem artificial and not real like a doll at times.

HeeChul was able to sympathize with the two stars since he too was instructed by SM Entertainment not to speak. And the reason was because he was considered the ‘queen’ of Super Junior by Chinese fans, and SM Entertainment thought it would be a good idea for him to remain elegant and silent like a queen during public appearances to maintain the reputation. He was instructed to always have elegant posture and be silent.

Korean entertainment companies didn’t make up this type of business system. The golden egg scenario has always been around. It’s just that Koreans are the best and the worst at everything.

Well the backlash of SM banning Heechul to speak is that Heechul speaks and acts crazily.

Well agencies back in th old days would earn crap load of money by putting the singers into immense schedule until they experience vocal chord nodule…. ex) min kyunghoon(ssamja), Kim kyungho, park wankyu, shinji, jo sungmo, and so on. I guess many agencies can still use their celebrities like they are money makers

Lol, I’m not sprouting hate, it just my opinion, but kinda remind me of DC vs Marvel. While DC creates mostly a superhero beyond human, I like how Marvel’s mostly superhero is tattertot like human when there’s no enemies or their background and simply they also make mistakes. | and now, they realise both concept are good and better if mixed with each other XD (not comparing or anything, but I felt the Korean wave when I saw BTS BS&T – before I just stick to varierty show XD)
