Kpopmap Fan Interview: A French AROHA Talks About Her Favorite Group ASTRO & Her Bias JinJin

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other' stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Elodie is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from France and is a fan of ASTRO and her bias is JinJin. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hello, my name is Elodie and I'm from France!

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I became an AROHA in February 2021. During lockdown, I was reading webtoons. I found "True Beauty" and then I watched the drama. I searched more about the actors and discovered that Cha EunWoo was in a K-Pop group. I fell in love with them as soon as I heard their songs.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

ASTRO is a group full of all-rounders. They can do everything and they're really talented. They also have wonderful personalities and I love their relationship. They're really like brothers and it's cute to see their interactions. And they make me smile and laugh a lot. I discovered them during a hard time in my life, they helped me a lot and I can't thank them enough.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

Of course it was EunWoo because I found ASTRO thanks to him and his drama but in the group and in their songs, JinJin caught my attention first. I love his style of rapping, it's like he's telling stories. I fell in love with his voice in their songs 'Lie', he put so much emotions in that part, I have goosebumps everytime I hear it.

Who is your bias, and why?

JinJin is my bias. He's amazing. I already talked about his rap but he can sing too, his voice is beautiful. He's also an amazing dancer and he has many other talents. He's also really patient, caring, selfless and kind. It's impossible to not love him.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

For a B-side, I recommend 'Lights On'. JinJin wrote, composed and arranged that song. The lyrics are really meaningful, and that song is beautiful.

For the title track, I recommend 'Just Breath' that JinJin also wrote and composed with Rocky for their subunit album "Restore". That song was perfect for the current situation and their performances were amazing!

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

My favourite fancam of JinJin is the one for the cover of 'Idol' by BTS. He performed that song with Rocky and SanHa and some members from other groups and the confidence he has in that fancam is mind-blowing.

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

Their video reaction to their MV "All Night" is one of their most chaotic and funniest videos. I just love it, and I laugh everytime I watch it.

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

"Don't be afraid now, I'll be by your side. I will always be the light that shines on you" from 'Lights On'. ASTRO are our stars, our light.

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

They talk about mental health a lot and I think it's really important to not be afraid to talk about those things so I'm glad they're comfortable enough to share that with us and also share their advice to help those who need it.

I just want to keep praising JinJin. He really deserves more recognition. He's an amazing rapper, singer and dancer, and he's a genius when it comes to songwriting. He really deserves the world. He's a person who gives comfort to many people. I just want him to be happy and to keep his smile forever. I hope he knows how much he's loved and that AROHAs and Jinuwus will always be there.
