There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other' stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Katherine is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from Argentina and is a fan of SEVENTEEN and more particularly of Hoshi! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Oh yes, hello! My name is Katherine, I live in Argentina, city of Buenos Aires, and I am currently studying at the university. At times I am a university student, and for longer periods I am CARAT hehe.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I entered the fandom so casually (but now I'm grateful for that) because a YouTuber that I followed, who did covers of songs and random content, recommended them in one of her videos and said that maybe she would upload some of them. Then I got curious, I looked for a video of them and the first one I saw was a dance practice of "'Pretty U' Dancecal ‘LOVE ver.'"

At that time, the song was only a few days old, and SEVENTEEN almost a year since its debut. The song was very adorable, and the choreography was very appealing to me; They moved from one side to another, they were many but they changed position very quickly, and they looked very happy. It really caught my attention, so little by little, I started staying with them.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

I love them for the simple fact that since I met them, being such a complete and varied group, each one has shown me all the hidden dreams they had, and they have helped and motivated me to fight for these dreams. Also thanks to them I met many beautiful people whom I appreciate very much today, and all this is something that I have no words to thank them for.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

Hum, it's a hard question to answer because since I saw my first video of them, I didn't even know where to look! They all looked very radiant but, if I really have to answer specifically, I think it was Jeonghan because of his hair, Vernon because of his eyes and Hoshi, just because I saw something special in him.

Who is your bias, and why?

My bias is Hoshi, and I think it's because he's the member I felt most identified with from the beginning; It is something difficult to explain, but I suppose that those who read and have a bias that they have appreciated a lot for a long time, he will understand me. In addition to being talented, he can also be funny and serious at the same time, he can be tender, like he can become a real tiger on stage, but with his energy he knows how to make us always have a good time, and he cares about it.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

'Fear' if you want to experience the power of seventeen, and 'Ready to Love' for a more relaxed and romantic side.

With the B-sides, I highly recommend 'Snap shoot' as it's such a happy song, and the filming was all MinGyu's work.

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

Sure! Hoshi has a song called 'Spider' where he shows his totally sexy and strong side, both with his voice and with the choreography. It would be great if you go see the MV <3

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

Totally, without hesitation I recommend you to watch the episodes of "Going Seventeen", his own variety show. They are broadcast every Thursday in Korea (or Wednesday, depending on where you are) from YouTube, and they don't usually last more than half an hour, but I assure you that they are very funny, that they even had to name the little fandom of this program, since even if you don't know them, they will always catch you with their content.

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

"When you feel tired, you can tell me. I also feel that way" - 'Hug'.

With this phrase, I can feel how they are human too, and they make me feel a little more accompanied when I have a difficult time. It's a very relaxing song, I also recommend it.

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

As I mentioned before, they have helped me in some way to discover new dreams, and feel that I am not alone in it. So, even if I don't realize it, sometimes I remember his lines, or some part of my favorite songs. I also have some phrases on my desk, because when I'm tired, that keeps me going in low moments.

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

I guess not too much with the whole group, but there are often misunderstandings with MinGyu. Some people want to get you in trouble all the time, when there is really nothing reasonable about what they say. MinGyu is someone who is very cheerful and who also loves seventeen and thanks everyone who helps them do their job better. I just want to say that seventeen produces almost ALL of they songs, and when they (no-fans) can say something really true about MinGyu and what he did wrong, I assure you that we CARAT will come out with the truth whether it is good or bad.

You can also add a message/letter to your bias or show it on a message scrapbook.

SEVENTEEN! Thank you for making my life even brighter and stronger with your music. From the first day I met them until now, I feel the same happiness and feel recharged with energy every time I listen to their albums. They will never be alone either, because if someone loses the way, carat will come behind to illuminate it and get us up together.

Hoshi! my dear tiger... HORANGHAE!!
You are that roar that I hear from above every time I need a little push, so please, don't stop being you! I have seen you special from the beginning, and it is because you are the one with whom I feel encouraged just by seeing you. All my 10:10 times are for you. Love you.

Thank you for answering our questions, Katherine.
