Hosted by incredible actress Lee DaHee, Mnet's newest survival program, "Build Up: Vocal Boy Group Survival", or simply "Build Up", is gearing up for its explosive premiere on Friday January 26th, 2024 at 10:10 PM KST. Featuring contestants from K-Pop groups like PENTAGON, WEi, UP10TION, JUST B, AB6IX, and much more, the show aims to create a legendary vocal boy group with focus on advanced singing techniques and mind-blowing harmonies.

Netizens are excited to witness a varying blend of mesmerizing vocalists who might not have collaborated if not for the survival program. Teasers alone have set the bar extremely high and fans are expecting vocal performances that are set to achieve legendary status. With the small snippets, excitement is through the roof and will certainly rise even further once the competition begins.

When it comes to top tier vocals, one's thoughts might naturally gravitate towards the many soul crushing ballads that have etched a large space within the Korean music community.

With that said, here are some ballads that would be amazing to hear from the contestants of "Build Up: Vocal Boy Group Survival".

        1. Paul Kim - 'Every Day, Every Moment'

Paul Kim's 'Every Day, Every Moment' is becoming a timeless classic. Many individuals look to sing this during karaoke, plucking on the heartstrings of everyone in the room. With the contestants' revealed, we cannot help but imagine the different teams that could be formed to create a new and wonderful rendition of 'Every Day, Every Moment'.

        2. SEVENTEEN - 'Circles'

SEVENTEEN have slowly solidified their spot within the Korean music scene, remaining at the top of the charts for months at a time. While they excel in vibrant dance tracks, they can belt out a series of captivating notes, as shown through the ballad 'Circles'. The track manages to combine feelings of saddening reflection and uplifting hope. This could very well be a rallying cry and statement performance for the contestants on "Build Up".

        3. Park Won - 'all of my life'

Despite being released in 2017, 'all of my life' continues to remain on playlists everywhere. Everything from the melody to Park Won's soulful vocals help 'all of my life' seep into the very depths of your soul. In between the heartbreak there's a wave of ease and comfort waiting to crash over its listeners. 'all of my life' would allow the "Build Up" contestants an opportunity to provide jaw-dropping ad-libs and tender harmonies.

        4. EXO's Chen - 'Last Scene'

Considered by many a ballad prince, EXO's Chen has created an extensive repertoire of heartrending tracks. 'Last Scene' is no different as it touches upon the feelings of a break up and its painful aftermath. Considering the talent from the "Build Up" contestants, their rendition of 'Last Scene' would be just as great, tinging listeners' hearts in the deepest shade of blue.

        5. Sunwoojunga - 'Run With Me'

Sunwoojunga is a gifted soloist with 'Run With Me' becoming one of her representative tracks. It holds overwhelming sincerity and a forlorn tenderness that brings both a smile to your face and tears to your eyes. Hearing a male version of the song would create a different atmosphere and leave behind a noticeable impact for weeks on end.

        6. AKMU - 'How can I love the heartbreak, you're the one I love'

Growing up in front of the eyes of the public, AKMU have a plethora of iconic tracks that netizens absolutely love. 'How can I love the heartbreak, you're the one I love' is but one of them, perfectly embodying the heartache of winter. While not the typical song you'd hear on a survival program, in the case of "Build Up", the AKMU ballad would create the perfect opportunity for the contestants to showcase their skills to the best of their ability.

Are you excited to hear the amazing harmonies on "Build Up: Vocal Boy Group Survival"?
