Kpopmap Fan Interview: A British ARMY Talks About Her Favorite Group BTS & Her Bias JiMin

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other' stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Dami is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from the United Kingdom. She is a fan of BTS and more particularly of JiMin! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

My name is Dami. I'm 27 and from the UK.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

Even though I got into K-Pop back in 2012, it wasn't really till 2014 that K-Pop really grabbed my attention and it was all thanks to BTS.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

The reasons I love BTS are because not only are they passionate about what they do but they also saved my life literally back in 2014. They care deeply for their fans and I'm forever grateful to them and owe them my life.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

JiMin was the one that who caught my attention firstly it was because of his of his dancing then it was his vocals. It was because of this that he became my ult bias. Then, I started to watch videos on YouTube about him and his personality shone through.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

A title track recommend from this group would either be 'Boy In Luv' or 'Blood Sweat & Tears'.

For B-side, I'd have to recommend either 'Coffee' or 'Hip Hop Phile'.

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

A video of JiMin I would recommend is either a complication of him dancing, or his high notes and raspy vocals.

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

A recommendation for the group would be any of BTS' "RUN BTS!" episodes (which is a variety show they do).

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

My favourite lyrics are "Haters gonna hate, players gonna play" from 'Mic Drop' and "You’ve shown me I have reasons I should love myself" from 'Love Yourself'.

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

A quote from RM that I love is "No matter who you are, where you’re from, your skin colour, gender identity: speak yourself".

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

The group always makes me smile and laugh, no matter what mood I'm in, and they always manage to cheer me up.

What is your biggest dream for your favorite group/bias aside from being happy and healthy?

My biggest dream for BTS is that their message of love and self-awareness gets to everyone around the world and not just the fans.

What is your first comment on a live broadcast of your favorite idol?

My first comment on my biases' V Live would be that I will keep supporting them no matter what happens.

Is there particular information that you want to say to new fans because they mostly don't know about it?

The only information that I want to give new fans is to just enjoy their music.

If you go to only one, would you go to a concert, fan meeting, or fan sign?

For me personally, I would love to go to a concert and it would just make me happy being in the same place as them and hearing them sing live.

If you have a chance to cook for the group, what will you cook for them?

If I had the chance to cook for the group I would cook them a proper British roast dinner with all the trimmings.

If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do?

If I could spend a day with JiMin and take him somewhere, I would take him to my parents house so they could meet him and see why he means so much to me.

Do you have a dream subunit/unit?

My dream unit would consist of JiMin, TaeMin (SHINee), Kai (EXO) and HyunJin (Stray Kids), as I would love to see them do a dance collab.

Describe your bias in 5 words

If I had to describe JiMin in 5 words, it would be talented, caring, sweet, eye smile and lovely.

What is a random fact that you think people don't know about them?

A random fact some people may not know about JiMin is that even though he loves cats he is allergic to their saliva.

Can you recall a moment where you cried/laughed with your bias?

A moment I cried with my bias was at an award show back in 2018 when they won Artist of the Year, and during the speech they spoke about how the year before they were talking about disbanding.

What about your bias do you relate to the most?

For me the thing I can relate to my bias is that we both are caring people who put others before ourselves.

If you could write a book about your bias, what would the first and last lines be?

If I could write a book about JiMin the first line would be, "Even though he went through many tough times he always thought good of people". The last line would say, "For all the love he gives, he deserves it back".

What is your 2022 prediction for your favourite idol?

My 2022 prediction for him is that he will make more music for fans to enjoy and that he is just happy.

Would you like to see your bias group in variety shows? What type of variety show would you like them to do?

I would love to see BTS in a camping type of survival show, just to see if they could actually make it.

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

My favourite side of fangirling is all the new friends I make and all the wonderful memories.

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

For me the only thing that people misunderstand about BTS is that they're not in it for the fame and money but to help millions of people around the world.
