Kpopmap Fan Interview: A Filipino iKONIC Talks About Her Favorite Group iKON & Her Bias Song

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other' stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Pau from the Philippines is the next fan to answer our questions. She is fan of iKON and her bias is Song (Song YunHyeong). Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hello! I am Pau from Manila, Philippines, I'm 21 years old and have been a K-Pop fan for a little more than a year! My one and the only group is none other than iKON!

How and when did you enter the fandom?

Well, I reached a point where the pandemic made me so stressed and I ought for a reliever. That's when I watched a fan-made video of iKON and that kindled my interest. I checked their profile and installed a VLive because of that. I finally entered the fandom last February 8, 2021, when suddenly Song YunHyeong of iKON turned on the Vlive to welcome his 27th birthday (Korean Age).

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

Of course, the very first standard of loving a group must be their talent and iKON won't ever disappoint anyone when it comes to their skills. The bond between their brotherhood is one of the strongest bonds you'll ever see, just like as a 'sasaeng' said if you want to see an idol group with a true friendship, just look at iKON. Of course, the love they have for their families is extraordinary and the love they have for their fans is not just an idol-fan love, it will always be the FRIENDSHIP love. iKON and iKONICs will always be each other's bullies and best friends.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

Koo JunHoe because he looks like an adult version of a baby I love so much, Song Manse the youngest among Song IlKook's Triplets.

Who is your bias, and why?

Song YunHyeong: the dance monster and visual-center of iKON and there are so many reasons why. I must say because he is SONG YUNHYEONG. Well, first his voice is so stable and versatile. His voice can be so husky, soothing, high, deep and anything he likes. He can play his own voice. Secondly, his dance steps are so accurate it looks like he is calculating his every step. He is in charge of the group's high notes and stunts. However, on top of that, his manners and the love he has for everyone around him will surely make everyone loves him too and every girl will definitely ask "God, why is there only one SONG YUNHYEONG in this universe?".

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

There are so many B-sides that can easily enter the cut. If you love emotional songs, then go for 'JUST GO' and 'DON'T FORGET'. If you love a relaxing song, try 'BESTFRIEND', 'RUBBER BAND', and 'ADORE YOU' but if you are for hip-hop, 'AH YEAH' would be the perfect song for you!

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

As a Yunhyeong-biased iKONIC, we call ourselves SONGNIMS. It is what YunHyeong called us on his Youtube Channel, SONGCHELIN GUIDE and I would recommend the whole Channel for the new fans, of course, YunHyeong is so flexible that he showcases so many different things on his channel such as cooking, feeding his members, bike riding, gaming, family outings and so much more!

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

Of course! I would recommend a video with a chilling vibe. It is a group VLive wherein they cooked and ate together while having fun playing with the fans. It screams comfort, happiness, and fun. It was aired last October 15, 2021.

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

That are the lyrics from 'JUST FOR YOU', it is a song dedicated to iKONICS who laughed, cried, fly, fall, and stood up again with iKON.

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

Song YunHyeong always reminds us "Happiness is not that far, everyone. It is actually near you" and that should be enough to get up and fight every day.

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

JinHwan always reminds everyone to observe our manners.
YunHyeong never missed the chance to remind us to stay positive in life and love unconditionally. He also never fails to prove that his efforts always paid off, his hobbies always get him something.
Bobby always shows that sometimes, it's okay to have fun.

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

Whenever I see my group happy and enjoying something together. That is enough to fill my heart with so much happiness. Any award nor number can't beat the happiness I feel every time I see them having fun and comfortable being together.

What is your biggest dream for your favorite group/bias aside from being Happy and Healthy?

iKON recently had a Japan tour and my bias performed his very first solo song called 'KKILKKI PPAPPA'. My greatest wish as an iKONIC is for iKON to have their massive World Tour for them to show what they've got! Accordingly, my ultimate wish for Yoyo is for him to debut solo and reconsider acting again because he would be a very great actor for sure! He can even trick us, his own fans.

If you go to only one, would you go to a concert, fan meeting, or fan sign?

It would be a concert. It'll be great if I can attend to all but it would be a shame if I miss their great live performances on a concert.

If you have a chance to cook for the group, what will you cook for them?

To be honest, I think my bias YunHyeong will be the one to cook for me.

If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do?

In SONG CHEF'S kitchen and I would just definitely listen to his recipes and eat every single thing he'd make.

Do you have a dream subunit/unit?

Three members really have strong voices and power. We would love it if they will form a subunit. Risotto Team: YunHyeong, Bobby, and JunHoe.

Can you recall a moment where you cried/laughed with your bias?

It is when he said "WE ENDURED" and proceed to cry. Two words that made the whole fandom cried because it holds thousand of meanings, because we were there, we saw how they endured. We saw how they smiled inspite of the pain. What makes it more painful is YunHyeong always cheer up the fandom and made us realize everything will be alright when he needed it more than we did, and finally he had the chance to tell us what he feels. That they endured.
