The Strength Of A Mother

When talking about mother figures in "Wonderful World", many might think of Eun SooHyun — and it's hard not to. She's one of the central figures in the drama and her actions are pivotal in moving the plot forward. While she does possess otherworldly strength, her own mother, Oh GoEun (Won MiKyung) deserves some spotlight too.

From the time Eun SooHyun loses her son to after she's let out of prison, Oh GoEun remains a constant pillar of support for her daughter. She becomes a constant reminder that everything is going to be okay, and even when it isn't, she's right there by SooHyun's side.

Oh GoEun is like any typical mother, nagging when necessary but so full of love. And it's in this simple motherly nature that adds multiple bright spots to the series. Despite the colluding, broken trust, and loss scattered all throughout "Wonderful World", the strength of a mother makes it possible to get through it all.

 

Eun SooHyun's Resilience

Talking about Oh GoEun, it's only natural to go down the line to her daughter: Eun SooHyun. There's many obvious reasons why audiences are left cheering for the character. Once blessed with a normal life, her entire world gets turned upside down with the loss of her son. She's essentially torn apart by the seams and there are many moments that might signal she'll never be able to come back.

However, every time all hope seems lost, there's one small thing that helps to bring her back to reality, feet firmly on the floor and ready to move forward. With the help of those around her, Eun SooHyun steadies herself with resilient desire to live.

No matter how many times she's hit down, whether due to her son's passing or news of her husband's affair, SooHyun allows herself to waver for a moment, before taking another step towards the future. This is no easy task, but watching her do so is an inspiration to say the least.

 

Gradual Increase In Support

When it comes to both Eun SooHyun and Kwon SeonYul, they are incredibly broken individuals who've had to battle immensely with their own personal traumas. They know what it's like to reach the lowest point of their lives and essentially, run into the possibility of never standing up again. However, through this series we see the two transform into a trusted support system.

From offering an umbrella to being a listening ear, they gradually learn how to rely on one another. In a world filled with corruption and bad guys at every corner, their comradery becomes a reprieve from everything happening around them. While slow, it's refreshing to witness their friendship blossom, their very presence replacing the dearly beloved people they've lost.

"Wonderful World" has a lot of layers, tied together by the drama's gripping mystery and nail-biting suspense. But the drama also shows it's possible to have hope in the dark times.

So far, the "Wonderful World" K-Drama has covered all bases of exposition, giving us most of what we need to know about our protagonist Eun SooHyun (played by veteran actress Kim NamJoo).

She has gone through a terrible tragedy, responded to her grief and loss with a drive for revenge, and has served time for it.

However, not much is known about Kwon SunYool (played by Cha EunWoo), other than the fact that he is the survivor of a similarly terrible tragedy and has a connection with SooHyun through the perpetrator of the crime that killed his family.

Based on this, here are 3 key points we are curious about in the coming episodes of "Wonderful World".

 

1. Is Kwon SunYool The Bad Guy in "Wonderful World"?

In episode 2 of the "Wonderful World" K-Drama, Kwon SunYool is seen working for Kim Joon (Park HyukKwon) to help him dig out dirt on his political rivals.

It is made clear that SunYool's work is crucial to Kim Joon's success.

However, Kim Joon is the man who helped cover up the murder of SooHyun's son GunWoo (played by child actor Lee Joon).

SunYool's involvement in GunWoo's case raises suspicions about his true nature and purpose.

However, there's a certain fire in SunYool's eyes, portrayed strikingly by Cha EunWoo, that makes it hard to believe that SunYool doesn't have an ulterior motive behind helping Kim Joon.

After all, the higher they rise, the harder they fall, right?

SunYool may have a bigger picture in mind to bring down Kim Joon, or so we think.

 

2. Did Kang SuHo Truly Abandon His Investigation In "Wonderful World"?

Kang SuHo is Eun SooHyun's husband in the "Wonderful World" K-Drama.

He is the picture-perfect husband - loyal, loving, dedicated to his family, and endlessly supportive.

He is determined to do whatever it takes to reveal the truth behind GunWoo's murder and goes quite far in pinpointing the actual power players behind the sick game.

When he reaches Kim Joon, however, he is presented with a video of the outside of their house, which seems to startle SuHo, as if something incriminating had been caught on camera that would absolutely break SooHyun.

Now, K-Drama trauma has taught us never to believe that someone is spotlessly pure.

So, we're starting to think Kang SuHo may be hiding a secret from SooHyun, and the footage in the hands of Kim Joon has the potential to end their marriage.

Later on, we see SuHo abandon his investigation entirely and move abroad to work as a correspondent.

However, did he really give up on the investigation to save himself?

What is the secret that is dark enough to blackmail a man into giving up on his wife?

We're extremely curious to find out but something tells us, it might be an affair and with SooHyun's sister Han YooRi (Lim SeMi), out of all people.

 

3. Why Did Kwon SunYool Try To Kill Eun SooHyun?

In the very opening scene of the first episode of the "Wonderful World" K-Drama, Kwon SunYool is seen inches away from running SooHyun over.

SunYool's eyes are teary and red, burning with an unknown vengeance and, at the same time, pained.

Cha EunWoo does a fantastic job of setting the tone of the drama with this scene, which is juxtaposed with cutaways of the time they spent together, happy and healing.

So, why did SunYool try to kill SooHyun?

Was he ordered to do so by Kim Joon?

Was it his own revenge?

Did he get closer to SooHyun only to kill her?

Did he actually kill SooHyun?

The questions are umpteen and increase the stakes for the K-Drama right off the bat.
