Kpopmap Fan Interview: An Indian AROHA Talks About Her Favorite Group ASTRO & Her Bias JinJin

There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other' stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

Siddhi is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from India and is a fan of ASTRO and her bias is JinJin. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

Hi. I am Siddhi from India.

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I became an AROHA in May 2020. At first, I was a K-Drama fan and I came across a very sweet series named "Sweet Revenge". There I found out about ASTRO but being new to the K-Pop world, I didn’t know anything about them. I was curious to know about Cha EunWoo because I liked him in that drama so I came across "My ID is Gangnam Beauty". The female lead in "Sweet Revenge" was in the drama named ‘Moments of Eighteen" so from there I came to know about MoonBin. I got curious about both of them and eventually became an AROHA.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

From what I have seen, ASTRO boys have one the best chemistry which keeps them going. Though having a 6 years age gap between the eldest and youngest member, they don’t differentiate each other and treat each other like brothers. Also having a popularity gap between the members, they understand each other very well and seeing their bond is what I like about them.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

It was EunWoo who caught my attention at first because it was through him I got to know about this wonderful group. EunWoo’s wonderful acting skills and his ethereal visuals caught my eye.

Who is your bias, and why?

My bias is JinJin because he is a man of words. Being patient is not easy but JinJin's patience is next level. JinJin is the kind of person who can even give away his lunch to his loved ones and starve and still he will have that beautiful smile on his face. His eye smile and bread smile is my favorite.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

I would like to recommend ASTRO’s debut song ‘Hide & Seek’ because it was the first ASTRO song I listened and got addicted to it, especially the chorus part and for B-Side I would recommend ‘Love Wheel’ from their 1st full length album ‘All Light’ for the new fans.

Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers?

JinJin was infected with COVID-19 in 2021. He came back, fully recovered in November 2021. He did a V Live where he talked about his hardship while he was recovering and how he kept a positive mindset while fighting COVID-19.

Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group?

ASTRO's 3rd anniversary V Live in 2019 speaks everything about them. That midnight V Live where they enjoyed with AROHAs and talked about their 3 year long journey and remembering the time when they won 1st place on a music show in January 2019. It was their first win after their debut.

Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics?

ASTRO’s first fan song, ‘You & Me’ from their album ‘Winter Dreams’ when they say "Drawing our pictures together, when it was tiring and difficult I thought of you, Good thoughts came just-just-just you guys.. Because I’ve fallen for AROHA listen well…." These lyrics are my personal favorite!!

What is your favorite group/bias' influence on your daily life?

One of Rocky’s interviews with AROHA’s mom where he said, "I really want to say to all those people who are encouraged by us is that, you’re doing great and that it’s you who’s doing amazing things, not us. Hope they gain courage all the time."

What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying?

ASTRO is not just a group, they are a family and I guess every AROHA reading this will agree with this. They have taught me to value relationships and spread happiness. If you fall, it’s okay to cry but get up and try again. Don’t give up. Things take time and it’s not compulsory that things happen as per our wish. We have to adjust with what we have and be happy with it.

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

ASTRO is a big name is K-Pop industry. But they haven’t got what they deserve. So I just wish people witness their talent and enjoy their music. ASTRO makes comfortable music rather than going for beats and has a beautiful meaning. They have had a lot of hard times and still are working hard for their fans and I really hope that one day comes when everyone will adore them and know about them more.
