5 Amazing J-Dramas That We Wish Would Get A Korean Remake

In recent times, remakes have become quite commonplace in the Korean entertainment industry, whether that be of older Korean films or shows, C-Dramas, J-Dramas, English dramas, or otherwise. At the same time, original K-Dramas have also often been adapted into dramas of other languages! One of the most recent examples of a C-Drama remake is "A Love So Beautiful", starring WEi's Kim YoHan and So JooYeon, which has been adapted from the Chinese drama of the same name, starring Hu Yitian and Shen Yue.

Similarly, "One Ordinary Day", starring Cha SeungWon and Kim SooHyun has been adapted from the BBC series "Criminal Justice". 

Naturally, therefore, it isn't entirely illogical to wish for even more remakes of popular TV shows into K-Dramas. Here are 5 J-Dramas that we wish would get a Korean remake soon!

 

1. "My Love Mix-Up"

Just like the name suggests, this drama is about a love polygon that results from a comedy of errors. Set in a high school, it tells the story of a young boy named Aoki who likes a fellow classmate who in turn likes someone else. However, following a chain of confusing events, the boy Aoki's crush likes starts to think that Aoki has feelings for him! The complicated web of first loves gives way to self-discovery and true romance. A Korean remake of this quintessential youth romantic comedy would be amazing, to say the least.

 

2. "Coffee and Vanilla"

A lovely young university student, who is desired by many around her, falls in love with an older man with a dark secret. A passionate love story ensues as the two find themselves inevitably drawn to each other. With their perfectly complementary personalities, there's no separating them! The fiery romance between the two leads is truly enviable. We would love to see a K-Drama version of the same!

 

3. "Koi Desu: Yankee-kun to Hakujou Garu"

A sweet love story between a bright young woman with amblyopia and a delinquent with hidden trauma, "Koi Desu: Yankee-kun to Hakujou Garu" is the feel-good drama you need to wash away all your blues. There is such purity and wholesomeness in the story that you can't help but fall in love with each and every character and root for them as they navigate their daily lives. A K-Drama remake of "Koi Desu: Yankee-kun to Hakujou Garu" would undoubtedly be a super hit!

 

4. "Horimiya"

Based on the manga and anime of the same name, "Horimiya" tells the story of an unlikely couple of high school sweethearts who find love and comfort in each other's uniqueness. They only bare their real selves to one another and in the process, inadvertently fall in love. Free of complicated conflicts or cheesy tropes, "Horimiya" is a comfort drama through and through, which is why it is even more tempting to wish for a K-Drama adaptation.

 

5. "Mr. Hiiragi's Homeroom"

[T/W: Suicide]

A step away from the romance dramas on this list, "Mr. Hiiragi's Homeroom" is a mystery thriller that will keep you hooked from the beginning till the very end. When an unassuming teacher takes a class hostage to confront the truth about their classmate who passed away from suicide, the cruelty of human nature is brought to light as students encounter each other's dark sides. With such a gripping narrative, it is hard not to binge the series in one go. The possibility of a K-Drama adaptation of such an incredibly successful drama doesn't seem too far from reality. We can only hope that it materializes soon!
