tripleS LOVElution, the eight-member subunit of tripleS, recently performed at Town Hall, New York City, as a part of its first world tour "[Authentic] LOVElution" in the US. Best known for its innovative system where fans get to publicly vote for group arrangements via a public blockchain, LOVElution showed that it was more than a passing fad with a powerful performance that surprised local K-Pop fans.

The eventual 24-member group seeks to be the world’s first decentralized K-Pop idol group. Members rotate between group, sub-unit, and solo activities. While confusing at first, the numerous members allow for a dizzying display of content as tripleS has already released seven comebacks in the past year, as well as a near-daily YouTube series called "Signal".

LOVElution, the group’s fourth sub-group, consisted of eight members: SeoYeon, HyeRin, YuBin, Kaede, DaHyun, Nien, SoHyun, and XinYu. Unfortunately, SoHyun could not perform in New York because of a sudden illness.

After entering the stage with a moody opening, the group launched into a powerful set of 'Atmosphere', 'Complexity', and 'Dimension'. Even though inexperienced in performing for US audiences, the members expertly worked the stage with maknae HyeRin expertly making eye contact with everyone in the front row.

The group then separated and performed songs from other tripleS subgroups, Acid Angels from Asia’s 'Rolex', +(KR)ystal Eyes’ 'Touch+' before reconvening to perform the full group’s 'The Baddest' and its own 'Seoul Sonyo Sound'.

“So, up until now, we showcased a variety of genres,” explained DaHyun during a break in the show, “but, for sure, it seems that New York enjoys whatever song we sing for you guys!”

The group then performed individual solos to show off their unique talent and personalities. The group mixed in dance covers from aespa, ITZY, NewJeans, and XG, while XinYu performed 'U+Me=LOVE' from "Girls Planet 999". Not to be outdone, SeoYeon sang a cover of Claire Rosinkranz’s 'Frankenstein' while DaHyun sang the group’s own B-Side 'Cry Baby'.

The lights dimmed as vocalist DaHyun then performed a touching rendition of her song 'More Than Yesterday' from the soundtrack of "Dr. Romantic 3". Her vocals fluttered throughout the historical theater with even a few WAVs (the group’s fandom name) shedding tears. The group continued to slow vibe and sang 'Beam', a song of a relationship gone sour. “I don’t gotta know you anymore,” the group sang, “my heart is less and bored.”

LOVElution then performed other tripleS songs: 'Generation', 'Cherry Talk', 'Cherry Gene', and 'New Look'.  SeoYeon, Kaede, and Nein held the 'Cherry Talk' stage together as it was not obvious to attendees that the group was missing a member during the performance.

“So, it was so fun to be able to hang out with WAVs today,” said Kaede during her final goodbyes, “Come see us again soon!”

The group then closed out the concert with its latest release, 'Girls’ Capitalism', before coming out in tour merchandise to perform an encore of 'Colorful' and 'Rising'. Despite performing for more than 1 hour and 40 minutes, the members joyfully bounced their way through the difficult choreography while engaging the audience so much that they felt like they were a part of the show.

After New York, tripleS LOVElution then traveled onward with its "Authentic" tour with stops in Tysons Corner, VA; Akron, Ohio; Kansas City, Mo.; Houston; and Fort Worth, Texas before ending the tour in Los Angeles.

Kpopmap received a photo pass and review ticket from MyMusicTaste. It did not influence the coverage of this concert.
