Spotify, the globally beloved audio streaming service, has unveiled its annual Wrapped campaign, offering insights into the listening habits of over 574 million individuals worldwide for the year 2023. This year's celebration not only honors the top artists and songs that defined the global music landscape but also spotlights the undeniable rise and impact of K-Pop, a genre that has transcended borders and languages, captivating audiences worldwide.
The "Global Top K-Pop Artists of 2023" reflect an unsurprising yet remarkable dominance by BTS, reigning supreme as the top K-Pop artists for the year, continuing their strong position from the previous year. Notably, members of the septet have also individually secured spots among the top 20 most-streamed K-Pop artists worldwide. JungKook holds the #3 spot, followed by JiMin at #6, V at #11, Agust D (Suga) at #16, and j-hope at #20.
Joining BTS are other global K-Pop sensations who have solidified their place in listeners' hearts. BLACKPINK (#2), TWICE (#7), SEVENTEEN (#8), and NCT DREAM (#18) stand strong among the top 20 artists. Additionally, rising 4th-generation powerhouses such as NewJeans (#4), Stray Kids (#5), TXT (#9), and LE SSERAFIM (#10) assert their prominence, securing spots within the top ten.
The dominance of BTS, BLACKPINK, and NewJeans extends to the Global Top K-Pop Songs of the Year, collectively claiming a staggering 17 out of the top 20 spots for the most streamed K-Pop tracks. Notably, JungKook's debut solo single, 'Seven (feat. Latto)' achieved an exceptional milestone by becoming the fastest song to reach one billion streams in a mere 108 days, earning a place in Spotify's prestigious Billions Club. Other BTS members also contributed significantly to this feat, with multiple tracks making it to the top 20 list.
JiMin's hits from his album "FACE" also made a mark, securing positions such as #3 with 'Like Crazy', #15 with 'Set Me Free Pt. 2', and #17 with 'Like Crazy (English Version)'. V's 'Love Me Again', 'Take Two', and 'Dynamite' by BTS added to the band's impressive presence among the most-streamed K-Pop tracks, collectively contributing to nine of the top 20 spots.
Lisa of BLACKPINK soared as the first female K-Pop artist to join Spotify's Billions Club with her track 'MONEY' at #7, while JiSoo's 'FLOWER' and other BLACKPINK hits also claimed spots in the top 20.
NewJeans, in their remarkable rookie year, impressed by securing four songs in the top 10, including consecutive spots from #4 to #6 with 'OMG', 'Ditto', 'Super Shy', and #10 with 'Hype Boy'. Additionally, the viral sensation 'Cupid - Twin Ver.' by FIFTY FIFTY claimed the #2 spot.
