It has been almost a decade since SM Entertainment’s powerhouse girl group, Red Velvet, debuted with the title track, ‘Happiness’. They are known for their conceptual styling that range from cute and girly to dark and sexy. No matter what style each comeback focuses on, they always bring life to the stage and deliver their fans a wide spectrum of vibes.
Of their numerous diverse performances, these are some of the best stage outfits worn by Red Velvet.
1. ‘Happiness’
When Red Velvet debuted in 2014, they made a splash in the K-Pop industry with their fresh, youthful looks and iconic two-tone hair. For their stage on “Music Core” on Aug. 2, 2014, they wore cheerleader style outfits that matched the colour of their hair. Just as cheerleaders do lots of flips and jumps, watching Red Velvet will make you want to jump with happiness.
2. ‘Ice Cream Cake’
The outfits for the Mar. 19, 2015 stage of ‘Ice Cream Cake’ were as sweet and delightful as an ice cream cake would be. Their coats and skirts were pretty pastel tones of pink, blue, mint, purple and yellow which were complemented by their blonde and orange hair.
3. ‘Dumb Dumb’
There is no better girl group to pull off unique, wacky concepts than Red Velvet as demonstrated in their outfits for ‘Dumb Dumb’ on Sep. 27, 2015. Though pretty simple, their brightly coloured striped shirts, coloured caps, white shorts, knee bands, socks and sneakers were enough to bring out the quirky vibes of the song. Their twisted pigtails also made a statement for this unique look.
4. ‘Rookie’
Red Velvet wore adorable blue babydoll dresses that were adorned with different collars and frills. Some of the members also wore white knee-high socks to complete the babydoll style. For a cute and upbeat song like ‘Rookie’, these dresses were perfect to highlight their cute sides.
5. ‘Peek-A-Boo’
One of the most viral and legendary K-Pop moments of 2017 was this performance of ‘Peek-A-Boo’ on “Inkigayo” for the sequined rainbow dresses and tops that Red Velvet wore. Irene’s outfit was simple yet chic with a white tube top, black fit and flare pants and sparkling waterfall earrings. SeulGi wore a black, ripped crop top with faux snakeskin pants and a baker boy cap. Wendy wore an asymmetrical neck crop top with cut-out pants over her black shorts. Joy wore a matching black set topped with a sparkly overlay top and long shiny gloves and YeRi wore a girly but sophisticated strapless dress over a glistening pink long sleeve top.
8. ‘Umpah Umpah’
The pink fits for ‘Umpah Umpah’ on Sep. 8, 2019 had ‘Barbie is ready to party’ written all over it. The pink tones were elevated with eye-catching sequins and fringe and different patterns. They looked like the ideal outfit to embrace their femininity while having fun to the bright and bubbly disco house rhythm.
9. ‘Queendom’
On Aug. 26, 2021 for their performance of ‘Queendom’, Red Velvet wore Y2K inspired outfits. The Y2K vibes were brought out through the mini skirts, cropped cardigans, plaid prints and belt chains. They were such fun and trendy looks that anyone would love to replicate.
10. ‘Feel My Rhythm’
The black, white and gold dresses Red Velvet wore for ‘Feel My Rhythm’ on Apr. 3, 2022 were the definition of elegant princess. They featured puffy sleeves, bejewelled bodices, pearls, bows and sparkles for a regal yet fresh look.
