Korean variety shows are entertaining with many hilarious situations and conversations between the fixed cast and invited guests. It's but another chance for our favorite idols and actors to show a different, more relaxed side to themselves. Before, variety shows were only produced by big name production companies and most of the time, only clips could be found online — now that's no longer the case.

There are many celebrities that have opened up their own YouTube channel or have become the host of an online variety program. These YouTube variety programs have exploded in popularity, with some gaining hundreds of thousands of views in a short amount of time. What makes them great is that each show tends to have their own niche, ranging from talk show segments to taking on part-time jobs.

This new wave of variety gives an entirely different feel to this genre of Korean entertainment and we're here for it. So let's take a look at some of these eye-catching Korean YouTube variety shows.

        1. "Season B Season"

Veteran singer Rain opened up his YouTube channel in 2020 and has been producing hilarious content since. He alternates between content that his fans want him to do and content that he chooses for himself. Rain has done everything from mukbangs to arm wrestling challenges and has even collaborated with other celebrities. Rain is definitely a veteran as he knows exactly what to do to provide laughter and entertainment to his viewers.

        2. "MMTG"

MMTG started off on SBS' YouTube channel in February 2018. Since then, the talk show variety has soared in popularity and gained its own dedicated YouTube channel. The show features interviews with various stars such as Kim TaeRi, SEVENTEEN, and even Marvel superstar Benedict Cumberbatch. What makes this show special is MMTG's host, JaeJae. JaeJae is originally a PD but has impressed viewers with her hosting skills. She often refers to herself as a "half-celebrity" but she definitely has all the qualities of one.

        3. "Workman"

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work a part-time job in South Korea? Well look no further, because Workman is here to show you. The show is hosted by Jang SungKyu. He takes on the challenge of attempting various part-time jobs and shows a typical daily routine of a part-timer. Jang SungKyu even gets paid with a part-timer's wage by the end of the day. It's both informative and entertaining  as he tries everything from being a convenience store worker to EXO's 1 day manager.

        4. "Nego Wang"

Produced by Dalla Studio, "Nego Wang" is hosted by KwangHee who is known for his high energy and hilarious antics. With his reputation behind him, any show with his appearance is bound to be fun and entertaining. This YouTube variety program has KwangHee talk to ordinary citizens about certain brands and products. After compiling the public's opinion, he goes to the company to negotiate for discounts and deals. With KwangHee's persistence and strong talking skills, it's difficult for these companies to say no to his negotiations.

        5. "Jessi/SunMi Showterview"

You can't talk about YouTube variety content without bringing up "Jessi's Showterview". Hosted by Jessi herself, it's become iconic for her straightforwardness and honest interviewing skills. Each video is filled with laughter and memorable scenes between Jessi and her guest.

Earlier this year, it was announced that SunMi would take Jessi's place as the host of "Showterview". Despite the MC change, the variety talk show continues to receive much love and attention from fans. SunMi's calm yet goofy personality brings a new feel to "Showterview" and her chemistry with guests is an utter joy to watch.
