Nessie, Staff WriterThis year has been unarguably a great one for K-Pop girl groups. We’ve seen an incredible increase in fandom numbers, and very impressive comebacks. A lot of girl groups this year too went viral for either their songs or choreography, and it’s been steady rising from there.

Unarguably one of the most powerful vocalists in the K-Pop scene, and for good reason. A duo with SeulGi and Wendy will surely take the world by storm if they are paired as a unit. YooHyeon being a beautiful vocalist and DaMi’s flair for delivering iconic rap lines will wow fans all the more, surely. Besides, getting the best of both worlds can never be a bad thing.
A highly underrated group such as Weeekly has aces, too. Monday and Park SoEun have proven to be exceptional in singing and dance, and a unit with them would showcase these talents even more. Fans only hope their company can give them the spotlight they deserve, because the right exposure would definitely skyrocket this duo.

You’ll see the most important reasons why Weeekly’s Monday is a rookie ace that every K-Pop fan, not just Daileees, can’t help but appreciate below. The girl really has it all.
Nessie, Staff WriterSince their debut in June 2020, Weeekly has proven that they are one of the most formidable rookie idol girl groups of late. The anticipation for their debut was hyped, considering they were the second ever girl group from Play M Entertainment (now IST Entertainment) after Apink—the ten year gap was interesting enough. With this level of exposure because of their respected sunbaes, fans were expectant and hoping for a worthwhile debut, and Weeekly did not disappoint.
Their debut performance on "MCountdown" blew a lot of fans away, and also helped pull new ones in. While K-Pop fans were served with a refreshingly cute concept, the first in a long time, along with charisma and perfect teamwork on stage, the undeniable ace among them was definitely main dancer and singer Monday.
You’ll see the most important reasons why Weeekly’s Monday is a rookie ace that every K-Pop fan, not just Daileees, can’t help but appreciate below. The girl really has it all.
Being the vocalist of a group takes a lot, as it’s one of the most important aspects in any group. Monday showcases her smooth vocal colour and developed range in any Weeekly release. One most memorable moment was in their hit song ‘After School’ in the second verse. But she doesn’t limit her soft vocals to their songs alone—she has sung OSTs for the MBC drama “When I Was Most Beautiful” and the popular KBS2 drama “Police University”.
Then there’s the endless list of song covers she’s sang that are nothing short of perfection. This sort of experience for a rookie idol in the same year of their debut proves that the industry itself understood the power of Monday’s vocals, and you should too.
Apart from dance leader Park SoEun, Monday has also proven to be a force to be reckoned with on stage. She did after all say that if she weren’t a singer, she’d be a choreographer. Her skills are for sure an A, and devoted Daileees are sure she’d make brilliant choreographies if given the chance. She expresses the music with her body and facial expressions, not just making the right turns and twists when necessary. That musicality, as well as her technique and energy has fans’ eyes glued to her whenever she performs.
What fan didn’t scream internally when Monday rapped in the second verse of Weeekly’s debut title track ‘Tag Me’? It was so iconic, you must’ve been speechless when you heard it. If you haven’t heard, well… first time will definitely be a charm for this one. She could very easily pass as the main rapper in any girl group in fact. Her attitude and vocal manipulation skills were so impressed for a debut song and a rookie idol and if anything, this fact will have you stanning her in no time.
Monday may be a pro on stage, but her witty personality is all Daileees think about on the daily. She effortlessly brightens the room with her clever jokes that don’t even seem like jokes at first. Monday’s inherent humour automatically gives her a place in fans’ hearts, and her members’ hearts, too. As if we aren’t obsessed with her numerous talents already.
You wouldn’t easily find a rookie idol that ticks off all the boxes as an ace, but Monday does, and it’s time she receives the well deserved and due appreciation and encouragment for her talents. While you will be consuming Monday content—but unfortunately not on a Monday—you’d love to check out her cover of H.E.R.’s and Daniel Caesar’s ‘Best Mistake’ below.
