"Cashero" tells the story of unlikely superheroes who protect and save the lives of ordinary people with their extraordinary powers. The catch is the source of those powers. Our male protagonist, Kang SangWoong, has recently been fired from his job. At his lowest, he discovers a strange ability. He has superpowers that are directly proportional to the amount of cash in his pocket! As he has never had the chance to be in possession of enough cash to realize this ability, it is only when his last paycheck comes in cash that he becomes aware of his power. However, if the money disappears, so will his powers.

Kang SangWoong lives with his sister, Kang SangAn, a student who manages the finances of the household and also has a part-time job to support the family. The two live in poverty, and their conditions are further aggravated by her brother's unemployment. Still, they care for each other and have a beautiful relationship. SangAn is hard-working, sharp, and rational. To make sure her brother never runs out of power, she rations the cash they earn so that he can keep it in his pocket at all times as "hero fee".

At first, Kang SangWoong uses his powers to land himself a job. Then, he starts using it to jump his way home to save on transportation fees. Gradually, it became clear that he is using it to save people from dire situations whenever he can, slowly becoming the superhero he was destined to be.

Eleven chapters in, we're introduced to the character of SuOh in the webtoon. She initially appears as an ambiguous figure who is like Kang SangWoong, that is, a superhero. Strangely enough, despite being underage, her powers depend on how much alcohol she has in her body. Soon, it becomes clear that SuOh also comes from a dysfunctional family and, like SangWoong and SangAn, is struggling to make ends meet. She is kind and gentle but has a bad reputation for always being drunk or reeking of alcohol. She has a younger brother to take care of, who she loves to no end.

Kang SangWoong and SuOh meet when both of them try to save a truck from rolling off. She passes out, and SangWoong carries her back to his place. Over time, the Kang siblings and SuOh begin to spend more and more time together like a family. It is highly likely that Kim HyangGi has been offered the role of SuOh, but as SangAn is also a leading character, it is possible that she has been cast in the role of SangAn.
