When people think about Korea, they tend to gravitate towards the bustling city streets of Seoul or the soothing ocean breeze of Busan or Jeju. When compiling their travel itinerary, they focus on these cities due to their overwhelming popularity and abundance of activities. In these places, there's the allure of an enchanting night life, potential of celebrity run-ins, and the glamor of living out your own personal K-Drama fantasy.

Just like how there are many genres within the drama world, there are various cities to visit within South Korea. One tourist destination that everyone should have on their list is the city of Gyeongju. Gyeongju is known to immerse their visitors in a blanket of culture, dating back thousands of years to the Shilla Kingdom. Walking through Gyeongju, you truly feel as if you've been transported back in time and have emerged in the old roads of a historical K-Drama.

If you're curious where to go, here are some locations you should visit while in Gyeongju!

Dive right into nature by heading over to Samneung to see the royal tombs and travel along the Samneung Trail. As you walk along and head into the forest, you'll find yourself surrounded on all sides by an array of marvelous pine trees. Naturally, feelings of peace and comfort will fill your body from head to toe, making it difficult to return to the chaotic atmosphere of the city.

One of the K-Dramas filmed with the beautiful pine tree backdrop is tvN's "Mr. Sunshine".

        2. Woljeonggyo Bridge

Built during the unified Shilla period, the Woljeonggyo Bridge was burnt down during the Joseon period. However, thanks to the dedication of many, reconstruction began in 2008 and was completed in April 2018. This made Woljeonggyo Bridge the largest wooden bridge in Korea. While it looks amazing during the day, once the sun sets and the lights illuminate its every inch, the bridge makes a spellbinding transformation at night.

One of the K-Dramas filmed at this location is SBS' "The King: Eternal Monarch".

        3. Gyeongju Eastern Historic Site

It would be amiss to mention Woljeonggyo Bridge and not bring up Gyeongju Eastern Historic Site. There are numerous sites within the area which includes Cheomseongdae Observatory, Gyeongju Daereungwon Ancient Tomb Complex, and Cheomseongdae Pink Muhly Field, among many others. You can spend the afternoon looking through these various historical locations and then end the day at the beautifully lit Wolji Pond.

Multiple K-Drama's were shot in the area, which include "A Good Day To Be A Dog", "Reply 1988", and "True Beauty".

You can take the time to find some spiritual balance or head straight to the trail which leads to Obongsan Cliff. Eventually the trees grow scarce and you're greeted by a beautiful scenic view of the open sky, mountains, and the valley below.

Multiple K-Dramas were shot on top the cliff which include the iconic "Queen SeonDeok" and "Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist".

While in two separate locations, Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto form a "religious architectural complex of exceptional significance." With only a 20 minute bus ride separating the two, they offer a bountiful helping of historical ambiance and cultural enrichment.

Visiting both locations will make you feel like you're walking through the story of an amazing historical K-Drama.
