There are many looks Irene has had over the years but these are just seven of her best hairstyles throughout the eras.
Sandy, Staff WriterK-Pop idols are always a great source of hairstyle inspiration. Each comeback they stun fans with trendy and gorgeous looks that are worthy of recreating. They are one of the first things fans notice when content is released for new releases. They can range from bold hair colours to simple, classic looks or sophisticated styles and trendy cuts.
Red Velvet’s Irene is one of these idols who, with her beautiful visuals, always has a new, eye-catching hairstyle. Throughout Red Velvet’s nearly decade-long career, Irene has never failed to look amazing no matter what style she is sporting.
There are many looks Irene has had over the years but these are just seven of her best hairstyles throughout the eras.
No one can go past the iconic two-tone hair that made a splash back in 2014 during their debut era. For ‘Happiness’, Irene had long, straight locks of dark brown and bright pink. The bright pink ends were enough to make a statement on its own but when styled with textures and accessories such as the headpiece in the concept photo, it had heads turning.
With her stunning visuals, Irene pulled off yellow-blonde hair during ‘Ice Cream Cake’ era. The hair colour made her look like a shining Barbie doll, matching their title song that was as sweet and whimsical as her hairstyle. It’s not an easy colour to pull off but Irene looked amazing.
In a switch to another bold hair colour, Irene proved she can also wow fans with wine-coloured hair during ‘Rookie’ era. The sophisticated colour elevated her soft facial features and contrasted well against her complexion.
See-through bangs are commonly sported by K-Pop idols. They look super good on anyone and Irene during ‘Bad Boy’ era was no exception. Her eyes looked seductive under the see-through bangs and the loosely crimped waves added dimension to the hairstyle.
Irene looked adorable wearing two pigtails with face-framing tendrils during ‘Queendom’ era. It was a simple but cute Y2K inspired look that can emphasise the youthfulness of any outfit worn with this hairstyle. Seeing how pretty Irene looked with it was enough to get anyone on the Y2K trend and recreating the hairstyle for themselves.
For ‘Feel My Rhythm’, Irene was an elegant, majestic princess with knotted buns adorned with a white pearl headband. This neat and feminine hairstyle was perfect for Irene’s regal visuals. It was also perfect for the adorable puff-sleeve outfits that Red Velvet wore for the concept photos and stage performances.
For Red Velvet and aespa’s 2022 Christmas collaboration track ‘Beautiful Christmas’, Irene boasted her gorgeous, long, shiny hair by wearing it out with a simple hairstyle. She had a slick middle part with straight hair. A seemingly simple hairstyle was elevated with a layered fringe and cute Christmas hairclips.
Which of these hairstyles do you want to try for yourself?
