Other than entertainment purposes, K-Dramas are often chock-full of life lessons on various topics. This can range anywhere from school troubles, work-life balance, and even love. Note: this article might contain spoilers.

        1. Express How You Feel

There are misunderstandings galore within the relationships of "The Interest of Love". This highlights the importance of communication and how it's necessary to be outright and clearly express how we feel. Throughout the drama, we see the characters drop subtle, as well as not-so-subtle, hints towards each other. But nothing is truly resolved until both parties reveal their innermost feelings with their own lips. Relationships don't need to be guessing games and "The Interest of Love" is here to prove just that!

        2. Protect The People You Love

The people that we love are precious and deserve nothing but the best. Not only from those around them but from the entire world, too. However, some situations may call us to step into action in order to protect that special person. Whether it's an outward action in public or something done behind the scenes, anything is better than standing idly by as a bystander. SangSu certainly understands this as he springs into action and defends SooYoung on multiple occasions. Chivalry definitely isn't dead in "The Interest of Love".

        3. Follow Your Heart

This might be cliché, but it's an idea that "The Interest of Love" perfectly demonstrates: follow your heart. SangSu and SooYoung have immense trouble doing this. However, when they actually give into their yearnings and follow where their hearts are leading them, we see a significant shift in demeanor. Their smiles brighten and sparks begin to fly.

Of course, this is easier said than done, as there might be various factors that prevent us from following our heart. But in most cases, it is better to try than live with a life filled with regret.

        4. Be In A Relationship That Makes You Happy

Perhaps one of the greatest lessons "The Interest of Love" has to teach us is this: be in a relationship that makes you happy. Although unspoken at times, the question "Are you happy?" has made multiple appearances throughout the romance series. It's something both the main leads and secondary leads struggle with greatly.

However, it's an important question to ask as it can lead to either the improvement of a relationship or its bitter end. "The Interest of Love" does a magnificent job in navigating how true happiness plays into a relationship and the lack of can lead to something fleeting and shallow. There's certainly many things to learn about relationships from "The Interest of Love"!

The JTBC drama has yet to finish, but it has already shed so much light on the complexities of love! Are you currently watching "The Interest of Love"? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
