DREAMCATCHER, the powerful seven-member K-Pop group called “the face of rock in K-Pop), made its North American return with a rousing kick-off performance to their "Apocalypse : From Us" World Tour at Montreal’s Place des Arts last week. Despite the city not being a destination for K-Pop concerts in general, fans were ecstatic and easily filled the 3,000-seat venue to capacity.

Evolving from a five-member stereotypical girl group MINX, lead vocalist/dancer and visual JiU has led the group over the years and helped develop its unique sound. She is joined by main dancer SuA, main vocal SiYeon, sub vocalist HanDong, lead vocalist YooHyeon, main rapper DaMi, and the maknae GaHyeon.

DREAMCATCHER led InSomnia (their fandom) new and old through its discography, opening with their 2020 release, 'Scream'. The crossover hit, which blends classic K-Pop vocals and bridges with a heavy metal backing track, had fans rocking the aisles of the classical music venue in a way never seen before. The group also performed many other early b-sides, such as 'Fly High' and 'Wonderland'.

“Today is the start of DREAMCATCHER’s world tour,” SuA exclaimed during the beginning of the show, “and we’re so happy to start in the beautiful city of Montreal!”

New InSomnia weren’t left behind as the group also performed all the tracks from their most recent release, "Apocalypse : From Us". The crowd roared as DaMi dominated the stage during her rap solo during 'DEMIAN', but also swayed back and forth as SiYeon easily hit the high notes in ballad 'To. You'.

For the first time in recent memory, the group interspersed VCR segments throughout the show. Additionally, they also performed spirited dance covers in between sets, with SuA’s rendition of EXO Kai’s 'Rover', HanDong’s sultry performance of Camila Cabello’s hit 'Havana', and GaHyeon’s cover of STAYC’s 'Poppy' standing out.

The nearly three-hour-long concert almost went longer as the group closed out with its EDM-focused song 'Silent Night'. Not satisfied with the crowd’s initial response to the ending of the song, members continued to scream, “One more time!” and performed the rousing finale six additional times. Despite the intense jumping and screaming, the members of DREAMCATCHER kept it together and finally waved goodbye to the Canadian crowd.

“So, we've never been to Canada,” YooHyeon said as the group was saying their final goodbyes, “We’re really excited to finally be here and we’re sorry that it’s taken so long.” Hopefully, Montreal InSomnia won’t have to wait long for DREAMCATCHER’s next appearance.

After Montreal, DREAMCATCHER continued the tour with stops in Toronto, Cincinnati, Nashville, and Orlando planned.

Kpopmap received a photo pass and review ticket from MyMusicTaste and F7 Entertainment, the promoters of Dreamcatcher’s tour. It did not influence the coverage of this concert.
