        GOLDMEDALIST

Kim SooHyun is a walking legend who many rookies look up to. His innate acting prowess allows him to slot into any role for a variety of different genres. Despite these characters having clear differences, he's able to masterfully execute his lines and bring out every emotion possible that audiences cannot stop raving about.

After almost a three year hiatus, Kim SooHyun is set to return to the small screen through tvN series "Queen Of Tears". Along with his highly anticipated comeback, standing across Kim JiWon has the K-Drama community hyped to witness two icons take the same stage. The Kim SooHyun drought is now over and fans are rightfully excited.

Looking back, Kim SooHyun has played a number of impactful roles which has cemented his status among K-Drama greats. With that in mind, it seems necessary to revisit some scenes from the actor to remind us just how good Kim SooHyun actually is.

        1. Unforgettable Cliff Scene

It's hard to believe that "My Love From The Star" premiered a little over a decade ago. Kim SooHyun absolutely nailed his portrayal of Do MinJoon and his chemistry with Jun JiHyun could not have been better. While many will remember the romantic moments they shared, one cannot forget the drama's thrilling cliff scene.

Audiences everywhere collectively held their breath, waiting for Kim SooHyun to save the day. Stopping a car with his bare hands allowed everyone to let out a sigh of relief, reassured that everything would be okay.

        2. Swoon-worthy Umbrella Scene

Taking on the role of a newly hired entertainment division employee, Kim SooHyun's character, Baek SeungChan, was clumsy, but oddly endearing in his own way. He worked extremely hard to satisfy his sunbaes, but to also reach the level of a well-respected show PD.

Early on in the series, we see Baek SeungChan accompanying Cindy (IU) on a variety program shoot. She's obviously cranky and to add onto her discomfort, it begins to rain. What SeungChan does next makes everyone's heart skip a beat. In slow motion, he covers Cindy's head and brings out an umbrella, holding it above her head. Since then, it's become an unforgettable K-Drama moment that fans have not been able to easily forget.

        3. Masterful Portrayal Of Emotions

A majority of Kim SooHyun's projects are placed in a modern day setting. However, the actor does have historical K-Drama experience due to his appearance in "Moon Embracing The Sun". He was the perfect king that all audiences wanted to serve under.

While he was often firm and had a commanding presence, the actor showed that he's able to tap into a spectrum of different emotions. Towards the end of the series, Kim SooHyun delivered a heartbreaking performance that had everyone stunned and in tears. This masterful portrayal of emotions left everyone speechless, coming together in collective agreement of Kim SooHyun's award-winning acting prowess.

        4. Intense Display Of Strength

Kim SooHyun is extremely hardworking and it shows in every role he's given. On top of his clear diction and spellbinding line delivery, he also makes sure his body is up to par too. During Korean film, "Secretly, Greatly", the actor appears shirtless, showcasing an intense display of strength. With his chiseled body, he left audiences in a state of awe, amazed by his sculpture-like figure. With this image of Kim SooHyun in fans' minds, many might wonder if we might see something similar in "Queen Of Tears".

        5. Heartfelt Brotherly Love

"It's Okay To Not Be Okay" was revolutionary. It was one of the first K-Dramas to really talk about mental health and shed light on the importance of maintaining it. While Kim SooHyun's on-screen relationship with Seo YeaJi was one of the main focal points, the relationship between brothers could not be easily denied.

By the end of the series, both Moon KangTae (Kim SooHyun) and Moon SangTae (Oh JungSe) have gone through a lot, constantly battling trauma after trauma. However, they reach a point where they've found effective healing and are ready to support each other from afar. Their brotherly love is sincere and comforting, carving out a space for itself within your heart.

        6. Finding Seo YeaJi In The Rain

"It's Okay To Not Be Okay" was amazing, giving birth to a number of different scenes that showcased Kim SooHyun's mind-blowing acting talent. One scene worth mentioning is the moment he goes to find Seo YeaJi in the rain. While he wears an expression of frustration, there's an underlying tenderness and sincerity that tugs on your heartstrings and points to a path of healing for the two main characters. It's a scene that makes you wish you could feel the warmth of Kim SooHyun's embrace and receive its healing properties too.

        7. Legendary "Dream High" Kiss Scene

"Dream High" is a legendary coming-of-age K-Drama with sentiments many can still resonate with even today. The idea of pursuing your hopes and dreams, while tackling various obstacles remains a relevant theme that transcends time itself.

One of the many beautiful moments that the drama provided was this heartwarming exchange between Song SamDong (Kim SooHyun) and Go HyeMi (Suzy). Fueled by passion and love, the two share a heart-fluttering kiss through the bus window. You can feel the butterflies surge through your chest, a feeling you hope can be replicated through "Queen Of Tears".

Did you like this trip down memory lane? Are you excited to see Kim SooHyun's K-Drama return?
