Let's get to know our crush, JinJin!

JinJin is famous as a member of the sensational boy group ASTRO. The group is known for its vibrant but diverse musical color and stellar performance skills. JinJin is known within the group as dynamite with his powerful rap skills and talent. He is also their beloved leader and the anchor of the group.

If you are new to JinJin, here is some basic information about him. He was born on March 15, 1996, and his birth name is Park JinWoo. JinJin has shared that he got inspiration from artists Lee HyoRi and Rain when he was young. Watching them, he thought that it would be cool to be on TV. He also thought about the money aspect and how it would enable him to be a filial son to his parents. His parents were also creatives, making his choice to be a star easier.

JinJin started cultivating his talents in middle school. He participated in talent shows and his dreams and vision became bigger.

He is one of the many idols who graduated from the famous Hanlim Multi Art School. During his time in high school, his dream to become a singer was solidified.

He auditioned for Fantagio Entertainment and debuted as a member of ASTRO in 2016. JinJin is ASTRO's leader, main rapper, and lead dancer. Let's take a closer look at his triple threat talent.

JinJin's rap ability has to be the first thing we speak about. He is one of the hottest rappers in K-Pop with his ability to manipulate the rhythm and enchant people with his powerful rap and flow.

Many may not be aware of this but his general vocal tone is heavenly, especially when he sings. He has a husky and thick vocal tone which shines no matter how he uses it. Even his speaking voice oozes charisma.

As we've mentioned, JinJin has been dancing since a young age. He has experience in street dancing, as well. You can see his profound understanding of dance from the way that he plans and executes choreography. His dance style has a unique flavor to it. The power in his performances is not limited to his rap skills but also applies to his dance power. Besides the sheer strength of his moves, JinJin is famous for his fancy footwork.

His charisma is also an unmistakable force. Not to mention his attention to detail is next level. JinJin dances with every fiber in his body down to highlight details even in his fingertips.

His dancing in ‘Crazy, Sexy, Cool’ shows his diversity in dance. We've also had the pleasure of experiencing another side of JinJin's creativity through his debut in the sub-unit JinJin & Rocky. Their debut was the essence of fun neatly packaged in an album that was excellent from start to finish. Many fans mentioned how a lot of his charms got some much-deserved spotlight through the release.

To add to his all-rounder charm, he is not just an idol but is also a composer and lyricist. His name is all over the writing, rap-making, composing, and arranging credits of ASTRO's discography. Whether he is doing a hardcore genre or writing for more of a pop sound, JinJin knows how to inscribe his thoughts and poetic feelings into music that will touch the hearts of his fans.

He is also good at playing the drums. It's like his talents never end. One thing is certain, we are all grateful for his passion and hard work.

As a group, ASTRO is well-known for their close relationship with each other. The members treat each other and AROHA (ASTRO's fandom) like family. They look out for each other all the time. One of the members who is known to be the most protective is JinJin. He is a leader who not only leads them to success but cares deeply for his members. He's reliable in times when the group needs to focus but also good at expressing his love and appreciation for the members. He has a mother-like warmth that seeps through his interactions with the group.

JinJin has credited his ability to lead ASTRO to the fact that he listens to the members and their opinions a lot. He facilitates open spaces where the members are free to express themselves without difficulty, too.

JinJin is a deep thinker. He has certain philosophies about life that are captivating to listen to. You can find traces of them in the music that he has produced.

For example, he once mentioned having an interest in doing YouTube spurred on by a comment his mom made, which shows us a slice of his attitude about life. She once commented that he used to smile and laugh a lot when he was younger, but has become more earnest as he has learned about the world. JinJin said that he thinks recording vlogs of his daily life would allow him to discover the joys of his life whilst leaving an archive of his memories. We definitely welcome the idea of YouTuber JinJin and will be waiting with our fingers ready to hit the subscribe button when he is ready.
Another example of one of his philosophies is, “Treat myself well to treat others well.” This is a philosophy that many of us need to hear. The ability to take care of yourself to be able to properly take care of others is a strong mental health message.

He always shares these nuggets of wisdom with his fans, showing that he is thinking about their well-being, too. His love for his fans is indescribable and can be seen in the way he speaks. For instance, he once said that he would love to make a song with the voices of his fans mixed into it. That would be such a beautiful gift to himself, the other ASTRO members, and fans alike. It also adds to our point that he is a human gift that keeps on giving. Whether he is giving to fans through his wisdom and music, giving to ASTRO as a leader, giving joy to his family, or simply just being himself; ASTRO’s JinJin is truly like a present we all want to receive on Christmas day. He is a huge source of comfort to both his members and fans.
