Here’s a recap of what happened last week on MBC’s “Fantasy Boys”.

        Warning: spoilers ahead.

        1. Reenergizing 'Energetic' Team

Team ‘Energetic’ originally consisted of Ha SeokHee, Hwang JaeMin, Kang DaeHyeon, Moon HyunBin, Kim GyuRae, Hayato, and Song DuHyun. When the group was introduced, those in attendance could not hide their excitement, shouting cries of outpouring support.

Team ‘Energetic’ was filled with impressive vocalists that could reach the high notes with ease. However, the two rappers of the group, Kim GyuRae and Kang DaeHyeon, faced some trouble while preparing for the mid-term evaluation. While GyuRae consistently improved, DaeHyeon found it difficult to keep up with the rest and was a prime candidate to be sent to team ‘My First and Last’. However, as the performance began, it was revealed that Hayato was voted out instead.

Team ‘Energetic’ left everything on the stage, impressing everyone in the studio. By the end of their performance, they not only received cheers from the live audience, but also from the mentors seated in front of them. From fans and the producers, they received a final score of 3060 points, securing first place for the time being.

        2. Revisiting 'Sugar Rush Ride'

On this week’s episode, “Fantasy Boys” showed a shortened version of ‘Sugar Rush Ride’. Although it wasn’t the full version, you could still feel the team’s passion and witness their outstanding talents.

They quickly moved onto the short interview portion. This included Oh HyeonTae revealing that with advice from his teammates, he was able to fully understand the song’s sexy and dreamy theme. He then confessed that Hong SungMin was the group member who taught him most about love, causing the audience to laugh and erupt in cheers.

They received huge compliments from the mentors, sharing that they seemed like already debuted idols. From fans and producers, team ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ received 3390 points, taking over first place for the time being.

        3. A Team Of Reversals - 'My First And Last'

Team ‘My First and Last’ only had four members to start. The four core members include Seo SangWoo, Bok Daniel, Kim BeomJun, and Kim KyuHyun. From the outset, things did not look good for the team as they were made up of 3 rappers and 1 vocalist.

On the day of the mid-term evaluations, the 4 members showed what they prepared, but made multiple mistakes that shocked everyone in the room. They received criticism from WINNER’s Yoon, Semester 4’s producer, as well as their fellow contestants. Once the other groups decided who to let go, Team ‘My First and Last’ received additional members in Kang IRang, Kaedan, and Hayato.

Team ‘My First and Last’ had arduous practice sessions filled with numerous obstacles. This ranged from IRang making choreography for the first time to Kaedan’s improved determination and focus. Despite all the troubles they faced, they pulled off a heart-fluttering performance that left the audience cheering and the mentors speechless. In the end, they received 2600 points, tying with team ‘Ko Ko Bop’.

        4. Mid-Term Evaluation Winners: 'Not Today' Team

From the very beginning, everyone looked at team ‘Not Today’ as a formidable group. The members include Jin MyungJae, Lee HanBin, Kang MinSeo, Kang HyunWoo, Keum JinHo, Park HyeongGeun, and Nam SeungHyun.

Once they started practice, the contestants showed incredible chemistry and acted like a well-oiled machine. They worked together seamlessly and completely crushed it at the mid-term evaluation. The trainers recognized their efforts, ranking them first and allowing all the members to remain in the group.

Their actual performance was even better than before and set the entire studio on fire with their passion. They received immense praise from the mentors and enormous cheers from the crowd. In the end they received 3210 points, putting them at 2nd place for the teamwork mission.

        5. Dividing The Benefits

As Semester 4 performances came to a close, the time to divvy up the benefits came upon the teams ranked below first place. The leaders of the lower ranked teams had the difficult responsibility of deciding which member would receive the most coveted benefits.

There were thorough discussions with some leaders holding group meetings, while others preferred a one on one setting. The contestants chosen to receive the benefits were Park HyeongGeun, Nam SeungHee, Keum JinHo, Hwang JaeMin, Song DuHyun, Kang IRang, and Yuma.

        6. Semester 4 Rankings

All the contestants were on edge as it was revealed that only 27 of the 32 would move on to the show’s semi-finals. With the benefits in place, “Fantasy Boys” MC, TVXQ’s ChangMin, began announcing the names that made it to the next round. To kick things off, Park HyeongGeun was called as no. 26.

As usual, the rankings for Semester 4 saw a mixed bag of reactions. Some contestants jumped up in immense joy, while others dropped their heads in sadness. Some notable changes included Lee HanBin dropping all the way down to no. 23 and Santa reclaiming a spot in the debut group at no. 9.

The “Fantasy Boys” rivalry continues as Hong SungMin once again takes the no. 1 spot and Yu JunWon follows shortly afterwards at no. 2. For Semester 4, TaeSeon joins them at no. 3.

The competition program then focused its attention on who would take the coveted no. 27 ranking. After a brief moment of suspense, Hayato’s name was called to take the final seat.

Look out for the next episode of MBC’s “Fantasy Boys”, which airs every Friday at 10PM KST.
