STAYC is a 6-member girl group under HIGH UP Entertainment. Renowned for their incredible no-skip discography and unmatched live vocal performance skills, STAYC has become a force to be reckoned with. Consisting of members SuMin, SiEun, ISA, SeEun, Yoon, and J, they have established themselves as artists of unparalleled talent.
The group made its debut on November 12, 2020, and is coming up on its 3rd debut anniversary. From their debut with their first single album "Star To A Young Culture" and the title track 'So Bad', to their latest third mini album "TEENFRESH" and the title track 'Bubble', STAYC have become the symbols of youthful music in the K-Pop industry.
As a result of their incredible achievements, it is no surprise that they are one of the most sought-after artists when it comes to live performances (concerts, festivals, etc.) both locally and internationally.
In fact, this time around, STAYC is part of the star-studded lineup for the "KOREA ON STAGE IN LONDON" event that is being promoted by MyMusicTaste in partnership with the Korean Cultural Heritage Administration and the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS).
Aside from STAYC, the lineup includes artists like ATEEZ, YAGEUM YAGEUM, Lee YoungJi, xikers, Xdinary Heroes, Henry Moodie, Jannabi, P1Harmony, and BOYNEXTDOOR. Kpopmap had the honor of interviewing STAYC ahead of their performance at "KOREA ON STAGE IN LONDON". The members shared about their growth as artists this year, what they would say to their pre-debut selves (knowing what they know now), and what they're looking forward to experiencing in the beautiful city of London. STAYC, welcome to Kpopmap! 2023 has been filled with exciting moments and achievements for your group such as winning the bonsang at the “K Global Heart Dream Awards”, your music show wins, breaking album sales records, going on your first tour, and more. Can you tell us how you’d describe this year so far in one sentence?
2023 was a productive year.
SuMin
This year is an unforgettable year for connecting with our fans a lot more through our first concert and tour! There were a lot of challenges, but through those hardships, we were able to grow into better artists, which we are very proud of. There is still a bit left of the year, and we want to continue connecting with our fans!
SiEun
We got a lot of love from our SWITHs from concerts and tours!
ISA
It was a year we grew as artists.
SeEun
The more fun it was, it passed by quicker, and through our ‘TEDDY BEAR’ and ‘BUBBLE’ promotions, we could feel that time has passed by so quickly. It was the year I turned 20, and it was but bittersweet because the time just sped by. But this is just the start! We have a lot more to go!
Yoon
I wanted to thank everybody first! This year was a very meaningful one, with a lot of experience and precious opportunities! Also, I feel like we bonded more with SWITH! I want to continue making great memories with SWITH!

With all of these achievements in mind. What has been your favorite moment of 2023 so far as a member of STAYC?
This year, we had our first concert and world tour. The intro and closing performances from each city’s concert were very memorable. No matter where we were, all of our fans gave out the loudest cheers and celebrated with us until the end of the show every time.

“KOREA ON STAGE IN LONDON” is all about making special memories in the iconic city to commemorate 140 years of UK-Korea Relations. How do you feel being part of the lineup for such a meaningful event?
We are honored to participate in this meaningful event, and we hope the audience will receive a lot of great energy from our music.

“KOREA ON STAGE IN LONDON” will also be taking place a few days before your 3rd debut anniversary. If you could give a piece of advice to your pre-debut self (knowing what you know now 3 years into your career) what would it be?
I would like to tell myself to not hesitate and show you everything that you have. You never know what it’s going to be like in the future. I think I felt insecure because I was unsure about my future. So if I were to send a message to STAYC 3 years back in time… I would like to tell them to be bold and not be afraid of anything.

We’re sure London SWITH are excited to see you perform right in front of them! Which song do you most look forward to performing in front of a live audience and why?
It is ‘RUN2U’! It's really fun to perform and it can hype up the audience!

It must be quite the adrenaline rush just before heading on stage. Are there any special routines or habits that any of the members do to prepare for the performance before going on stage?
I try to keep myself as calm as possible, and try to backtrack on what I need to do on stage. Also, I try to take a lot of pictures for the memories!

Is there anywhere in London that you’d especially like to visit or a tourist attraction you’d like to see? Which memorable photograph (인생샷) will you be making sure to take on your trip?
I want to try bagels in London! Also, I want to take pictures at the London Bridge or the London Tower!

STAYC is known for your energetic performances and stunning live vocals. It must take a lot of energy to perform with such passion. Can you share a little TMI regarding this with fans? Which food do you crave the most after a performance?
I usually crave food with high calories after the performance, because we burn a lot of energy.

On that note, are there any British foods that you’d like to try before or after your “KOREA ON STAGE IN LONDON” performance?
The London Bagels!! It got really popular in Korea, and we enjoy a lot of bagels, so I want to enjoy it with my members!

Lastly, do you have anything to say to SWITH from London who are eager to see you on stage and constantly supporting you? Please send a special message to your fans.
London!!! We’re finally going to see you! I know you’ve waited for a long time, and so have we! I hope we can have a great time through the show, and thank you so much for the love and support!
