"The Matchmakers" has been wonderful to watch ever since its first episode. The characters' comedic antics, combined with the lighthearted romance served as the perfect source of warmth these past few weeks. The KBS drama brought on RoWoon and Cho YiHyun as its main leads and audiences couldn't be any happier with the pairing.

Through the drama, we see widow Jeong SoonDeok (Cho YiHyun) and widower Sim JeongWoo (RoWoon) take on the gargantuan task of marrying three single maidens, a mission given by the king himself. But as they carry out their mission, they must navigate their feelings of romance that have come to the surface.

While enamored by their relationship, many eyes rested on RoWoon and his character of Sim JeongWoo as his feelings steadily grew. Now, let's take a look at these stages of falling in love, as demonstrated by JeongWoo himself.

All relationships must start from somewhere. Although real life might be less dramatized, there's that one fateful encounter with that special someone. After this pivotal moment, the pursuit of a romantic relationship begins. In the case of Sim JeongWoo, he was able to meet Jeong SoonDeok by chance, literally falling into her arms. With a reversal of roles, he's caught in her embrace and their eyes lock, causing sparks of romance to flicker into life.

        2. Early Stage Bickering

Now, not all approaches to love are the same. Some are cordial, sincere, and overall polite. But if you're anything like JeongWoo, you might resort to some early stage bickering to hide what you really feel. While the person who does this might come off as cold or sarcastic, their feelings are slowly building up on the inside. And then there exists signs of the metaphorical green light which we all hope to see. It is through this bickering that two people might even grow closer and start to lay the foundations of a long-lasting relationship.

        3. Time Stops And Sudden Realization

        KBS

As he's carrying out the mission with SoonDeok, they encounter a situation where JeongWoo is left breathless — in the worst way possible. In this moment of distress, time literally stops and all he can see is SoonDeok standing in front of him. It is here that the wheels begin to turn and he slowly starts to realize there might be something more brewing in his heart. This time stop and sudden realization can happen to anyone, at any moment. So don't be caught off-guard when it occurs to you and follow what your heart's trying to tell you.

        4. Outright Denial

        KBS

Not everyone comes across this step while falling in love. However, it's also not uncommon and the very reason some people hold themselves back. The stage of denial is a time where the relationship moves neither forward nor back. You simply sit at a standstill, wondering how you could fall for that person. JeongWoo spends a significant amount of time at this stage and tries to use logical reasoning to dismiss his true feelings.

        5. Accepting The Fact

After denial, however, comes acceptance. Love is a feeling that cannot be detained and usually shows itself when you least expect it. After suffering from love sickness and spending more time with Jeong SoonDeok, Sim JeongWoo finally realizes the truth: that he's deeply in love. That isn't to say he has forgotten about his old lover. Rather, he's accepted her absence and is now ready to embark on a new journey with SoonDeok by his side.

        6. Being Open And Transparent

Going through this rollercoaster ride of falling in love, towards the end there exists one solution: being open and transparent with your feelings. JeongWoo showcases this, making now confident and bold steps toward SoonDeok. Our male lead finally lets his crush know that she's been on his mind and that he's fallen for her many charms. While she rejects him at first, he remains patient, yet proactive, in waiting for SoonDeok to realize her own feelings. "The Matchmakers" truly show that honesty is the best policy and that holding in your feelings never yields desired results.
