Imagine being so loved by your idol that before he leaves for his military duty, he records the dreamiest, most comforting song for your 4th anniversary as a fan. This is what soloist superstar Ha SungWoon did for his fandom HA:NEUL's 4th anniversary with the digital single 'Snowy Stars'. In this article, we're breaking down the lyrics to  'Snowy Stars' for an analysis of what it really means. So, without further ado, let's get into it!

Ha SungWoon, who is currently serving in the military, made sure that his absence did not hurt his fans on their special day. So, to celebrate 4 years of being together, he co-wrote 'Snowy Stars', which was released on February 8, HA:NEUL's founding date. Even though he is working hard elsewhere, he made sure that his voice embraced his fans like a warm hug in the winter, comforting them with love and hope.

Musically, 'Snowy Stars' is a warm R&B/pop song infused with elements of soft jazz that is as magical and enchanting as it gets. At the same time, there's a euphoric tone that permeates the song, making us want to get up and groove along. Tinged with a nostalgic vintage record player vibe, which is complimented by Ha SungWoon's timeless, golden vocals, 'Snowy Stars' could not possibly get any sweeter.

In terms of the aesthetic that this song evokes, it instantly transports us to a coffee shop where you're warming your hands around a cup of hot chocolate as snow falls silently outside. Fire crackles in the distance and loved ones are impossibly happy to see each other. The sound of love and laughter is drowned out as you put your headphones in and take a deep breath to appreciate where you are and who you're with - Ha SungWoon.

The song starts off with Ha SungWoon setting the scene for us. The snowfall turns the world white, burying our blues and in this almost sacred moment, SungWoon is writing about his beloved HA:NEUL. Deep into the night, he is taken over by overwhelming adoration and longing, so much so that even closing his eyes makes memories of 'you' float right in front of him. He wonders if you feel the same and wishes for a sweet dream under the dazzling starlight where, one might interpret, he hopes to meet you, HA:NEUL.

SungWoon transforms the stars into beacons of his love, clad in ethereal white, pulled inexplicably to you, as if dancing on the cosmic stage. He confesses that you are his sky, an adorable reference to HA:NEUL, which means "sky" in Korean and takes on the role of the stars himself, staying unchangingly by your side. He might be physically far apart from HA:NEUL but they look up at the same bright moon every night and what unites them is the unbreakable thread of love.

SungWoon then promises that when he's together with HA:NEUL again, he will fill up their days with his love and music. As time passes by slowly but surely ("the cold nights are now getting warmer"), the brilliant glow in the way his fans look at and up to him, the way HA:NEUL cherish him with such incomparable fondness, will keep him warm through the cold winter nights.

Like the snow piling up on the dark roads, brightening them up, fans' well wishes and love reach him even from the farthest corners of the world and bring him strength. Not a moment goes by when his heart doesn't fill up with gratitude for the vividness his fans imbue in his life. So, he wants to spend such winter nights with HA:NEUL, returning their love with all his might. In an excellently poetic creative choice, Ha SungWoon uses the oxymoron "snowy stars" here to combine the joy and beauty of cold snow with the passion of fiery stars and convey the all-encompassing love he has for HA:NEUL.

As the enduring night comes to an end, Ha SungWoon reassures his fans that while it will take some time before he can be by their side, just thinking about them consoles his heart. Thus, even though he couldn't communicate with fans directly on their anniversary, SungWoon expressed his heart with panache through his music - the greatest gift.

Finally, transposing this song with a dream, Ha SungWoon gently reminds us that even when this song ends, rather than being dispirited, we should feel his love from miles away, letting the snowy stars embrace us. Just as HA:NEUL makes Ha SungWoon shine, Ha SungWoon will make HA:NEUL gleam with pride. The final line, charged with poignance, is one last ode to the promise of spring when SungWoon and HA:NEUL will be together again and all will be well in this beautiful world.
