The story follows Park YeonWoo (to be played by Lee SeYoung), a woman in Joseon who is on the verge of getting married. Her to-be-groom Kang TaeHa (to be played by Bae InHyuk) is rumored to have the face of a demon because of a disease he suffered from as a child but as it turns out, he's actually a handsome young man with quite the visuals. However, on their wedding night, he breaks up with her because of his heart disease, revealing that he has deceived her. Much to his surprise, YeonWoo has no intention of getting dumped and maintains her stance of remaining married. Little did she know that he would pass away the next instant, thus ending their marriage.

Soon after TaeHa's passing, society condemns YeonWoo for having "killed" her husband, not knowing that she already knew about his illness. Still, she must live with her in-laws, despite TaeHa's stepmother cursing her left and right. That night, while cleaning up their room, YeonWoo discovers a silver norigae (a decorative ornament) in TaeHa's possession. This isn't just any norigae, though. It's a special one that she had lost as a child and had been looking for ever since. However, before she can process this, she is taken away by an unknown man and thrown into a well, where she drowns.

Now, if you've watched enough fantasy K-Dramas, you might have a hunch of what happens next. YeonWoo is saved by a young man in modern clothing and this man looks an awful lot like her seobangnim (husband) Kang TaeHa! YeonWoo has been transported to Seoul and her new life begins as she meets the celibate modern CEO Kang TaeHa, only to enter into a fake wedding with him to fulfill his grandfather's dying wish.
