BTS’s j-hope is a dancing machine, serotonin booster, and praiseworthy musical genius. While he's a force to be reckoned with in the group, he’s even more stunning with his solo works. j-hope has many unofficial and official tracks released over his career. He has released much of his art with fans over the last 10 years that have been unforgettable. His debut mixtape “Hope World” was released in 2018 with his debut studio album “Jack In The Box” being released in 2022.

j-hope’s music is unique and riveting, presenting a sound that he doesn’t usually show within his group’s works. His songs showcase many elements of old-school hip-hop, rock, pop, and hypnotizing R&B. We think that all of his songs deserve recognition but we want to highlight a few songs that stand out to us. Here are 7 songs by BTS’s j-hope that you need to listen to now!

        1. ‘Airplane’

‘Airplane’ is a beautiful masterpiece that is hard to sum into words but we can think of one for it, out of this world. Coming from his debut mixtape, ‘Airplane’ talks about j-hope’s hunger for success at a young age and how he wishes to be on airplanes. Fortunately, younger j-hope received his wish and this song was a beautiful way of illustrating that. The sound is refreshing and relaxing to listen to.

        2. 'Outro: Ego'

If there was one song to perfectly describe j-hope's radiating personality, 'Outro: Ego' is our top pick! His first-ever outro for BTS's discography and we couldn't have asked for anything else. This song perfectly shows everyone not only who BTS's j-hope is but who Jung HoSeok is. This song is fun, upbeat, vibrant and tells us about his journey to finding his own identity. We couldn't think of a better song to help introduce others to j-hope. It even pays homage to some of BTS's older works, sampling from their 2013 track 'Intro: 2 Cool For Skool' and showing some of BTS's older music videos in the intro this this music video.

        3. 'Mama'

One thing about j-hope, he's a mama's boy down to his core! This song is proof of that. 'Mama' is his first solo song on BTS's "WINGS" album. This song was dedicated to his mother and it serves as his love letter to her. This song gives us both rap and vocals from the artist on top of a funky beat that makes this a perfect dance song. 'Mama' was one of the songs many fans enjoyed seeing j-hope do as he always had a fun time performing it on stage!

        4. ‘= (Equal Sign)’

'= (Equal Sign)' brings us back to j-hope's velvety vocals and his stance on important issues. Much like the title name, the song talks about the importance of equality. The rapper wanted to convey this message to everyone and did so through this song. The song is soulful, groovy, and short, still making its impact on those who listen to it.

        5. 'Daydream'

'Daydream' is a song that takes us into the j-hope's very own Hope World. This song is paired with a music video and shows us how the singer is living in his own daydream doing whatever he wants to do. The chorus of this song is addicting, you can't help but sing and repeat the title name along with j-hope. Not only does he show off his unforgettable rapping skills, but j-hope reminds us that he is an excellent singer too in this song.

        6. 'Arson'

Always expect the unexpected when it comes to this rapper's music. 'Arson' comes from j-hope's first studio album and the song is something we never could've imagined from him. Contrary to his typical sound, 'Arson' is hard-hitting and shows off j-hope's rapping skills. His flow is smooth and the song's funky beat is one that we will never forget. The music video is even different compared to his previous works as he walks through a fire-struck and torn-down yard while rapping and dancing. 'Arson' was a pleasant surprise, showing us a different side of j-hope compared to his "Hope World" mixtape.

        7. 'On The Street' With J.Cole

If you’re deep into BTS’s history, you know why this song is so meaningful to the rapper! 'On The Street' was j-hope's last work before his military enlistment and a perfect way to say "See you later" to his fans. The title of the song refers to the dancer's history of being a street dancer, the activity that set him on the path to becoming a member of BTS. His love for dance, fans, and music is perfectly shown through this song. It has a nostalgic sound to it, a song you can listen to when you want to remember the artist. Not only that, he invited his long-time idol and American rapper J. Cole to feature on the track. This song has left us excited for his music when he returns in 2025.
