Incomparable would be the word to describe SEVENTEEN's Hoshi who with the ferocity and energy of a Tiger, tears up every stage he steps on with his outstanding performance skills. A master dancer who deserves recognition, Hoshi is not just an idol who can dance, he is a prominent stage performer who treats dance as an art piece, a story that needs to be told, and a way of life. It is not just about 1, 2 step with Hoshi, it is not just about pumping the energy of the crowd (which he does so well by the way), it is more about the artistry, the technique, the beauty of the skill in itself. Every movement, every step, however subtle or loud, fits into the story he tries to tell. You need to pay close attention because you might miss something if you blink.
You simply cannot doubt how incredible SEVENTEEN's Hoshi is on stage, but if you needed a reminder, here are some of his stage performances that prove our point.
1. 'Hot'
Fierce, powerful, energetic, charismatic, perfection. Everything about this stage performance was the detailed definition of the word 'Hot'. From his mesmerizing and trendy outfits to his enticing facial expressions and stage presence that makes you follow his every movement, and more importantly, the effortless delivery of one of the hardest choreography we have seen from an idol or group so far this year. He is the tiger for a reason because his energy is unmatched. The way the rest of the members feeds off of his energy, a roar that calls them all to vibrant action as they all possess the same hunger to devour the stage, just like he does.
2. 'Spider'
He might be a tiger but on this stage, he definitely was a spider. Hanging on the beam, his elongated and quick movements, his subtle but clean and clear actions, like we said at the beginning of the article, with Hoshi, everything is an art form that comes together perfectly well to tell a story. Used to being with the large numbers of his group SEVENTEEN, this solo stage debut showed that on his own, he had all the charisma, power, and presence to fill up and command the stage.
3. 'Left & Right'
Once again, the energy but this time cloaked in an adorable and boyish charm. Exuding so much swagger, Hoshi simply looked like he was having the time of his life on stage which made this performance even more enjoyable. Regardless of how playful and chappy he looked, one thing that's been consistent since his debut is how much of a professional he has proven to be with each stage performance. Clean, crisp, and detailed, in any concept, Hoshi is going to give you a performance that will leave you in awe and appreciative of his beautiful dance technique.
4. 'Home;Run'
The ball has left the park, the game is over and the clear winner is SEVENTEEN's Hoshi. Is it the outfit, is it the hunger in his eyes? Is it the charismatic facial expressions? Is it the confidence he effortlessly oozes? Or is it the hauntingly beautiful dance moves? As we try to pinpoint the many reasons why this stage performance was simply perfect, we have to admit that we are not surprised by the level of talent displayed by Hoshi with this performance as he has consistently done this time and over again. The standout performer possesses a certain when on stage that just makes you want to bask in his presence.
5. 'Don't Wanna Cry'
This era really introduced the world to the glaring potential that Hoshi possessed as a performer. SEVENTEEN are recognized for many reasons, and as for their stage performances, one of the elements that have made them outstanding is how clean and in sync they are. On this stage, Hoshi showed off his brilliance as a stage performer and artist. His body movements, his facial expressions, and every element he displayed on this stage were true to the message of the song. Clearly, the artistry that we are wowed by today has always been present for years. He truly has been deserving of this and every spotlight.
6. 'Rock With You'
The rent was due as on this stage and Hoshi came to perform! The fast, sharp-paced yet super clean movements, his hyping adlibs, and his energy. The stage performer clearly came to rock with us, and even though we can barely do half of the movements he does, we can't help but shout along and bop our heads tireless as we thoroughly enjoy this performance.
7. 'Anyone'
Red-haired Hoshi needs to make a comeback as his fiery energy is even made vividly noticeable in this look. We can keep talking about how refined a performer Hoshi is, and frankly, these words do not fully do his talents justice, and there are not enough words that will. With his stamina, his passion, his confidence, and his hunger, Hoshi treats each performance like it is his last and with a sole determination to ensure that every fan gets the experience of a lifetime. The stage performance bias, there are various reasons why after every SEVENTEEN performance, many go on to view Hoshi's fancams, and one of them is the fact that, frankly, you simply cannot get tired of watching him perform.
8. 'HIT'
The Dance Break!!! Can you see the flaming passion in his eyes? Thumping hard to the beat, the core strength it takes to perform this song is definitely incredible. Even by simply watching this performance we are already out of breath and cannot imagine the amount of hard work and practice that has been put into this standard choreography. Watching this, despite how old it is, just reinforces our stance that when it comes to K-Pop performance and dance, Hoshi is part of the elite. He is Top 10.
9. 'Ready to Love'
Hoshi dancing with the aim of showcasing the concept of the song will always be amazing to many. Soft and graceful at one point, demanding and powerful at another, he speaks to the desire and desperation of needing love, conveying the story and message of the song, while we are wowed by his every movement, we also spot the underlying message they convey and understand the meaning behind his performance.
10. '24H'
The focused gaze in his eyes, his strong yet subtly graceful movements that tease your mind, and a stage awareness that shows how much of a professional he is. It is addictive to watch Hoshi perform, as frankly, one can watch him perform for 24hrs and not blink or get tired. Glued to this level of perfection, clearly, there is a reason why he is the performance/dance leader of a multitalented group like SEVENTEEN, his dance skills are on another level.
Bonus - "Knowing Bros"
This might not be a typical stage performance but as long as there is music and Hoshi is dancing, then it becomes a stage. Wowing his fellow members, the cast, and viewers with his breathtaking dance moves. Should he have submitted an audition tape for the 'Street Man Fighter', he surely would've been selected, gotten the respect tag, and been a clear favorite.
