K-Pop idols are synonymous with 'trendsetting' when it comes to fashion, music, etc. We've seen some exciting trends on the rise in 2022 including selfie poses.
Recently, the 'gyaru peace' has become the hottest go-to selfie pose with a number of celebrities doing it. The trend was initially started in Korea by IVE's Rei. You can read more about it here.

Interestingly, the super rookie sensation girl group IVE seems to be one of the most trendy groups on the K-Pop scene at the moment. Another of the group's members An YuJin has started the latest selfie pose trend among idols.

IVE's An YuJin was seen doing a pose now known as the 'Ban YuJin' pose on her show "Earth Arcade".
But where does the pose come from?
The 'Ban YuJin' pose is being credited as initially being started by Korean influencer Ban YoonHee whom you can follow on Instagram here. Thus, it is also being called the 'Ban YoonHee' pose after the original creator. It is a symbolic Y2K pose (from the 2000s).

The Y2K aesthetic and some of the trends from the era have been making a comeback in K-Pop recently with many groups trying out the fashion and concepts. This explains how the trend has spread so widely.
The name 'Ban YuJin pose' is a play on the similarity between YuJin's surname 'An' and YoonHee's surname 'Ban'.
Ban YoonHee has even acknowledged An YuJin following her pose by posting a mirror selfie wearing a similar outfit to the one that An YuJin wore in the initial photo of her doing the pose.

How do you do the pose? The pose is done by holding your hand, palm facing out/forward (in most cases), in front of your face. Some idols have been doing the pose with their palm facing inwards, too.

The trend has become incredibly popular and An YuJin has been receiving a lot of attention for doing it. In fact, it is to the point where journalists are even especially asking for her to do the pose.
