        January might be coming to a close but the K-Drama world is hotter than ever and shows no signs of stopping. This weekend saw the premiere of MBC's newest series, "Kokdu: Season of Deity". The fantasy romance features the likes of Im SooHyang, Kim JungHyun, Kim DaSom, and An WooYeon.

        It depicts the story of KokDu (Kim JungHyun), a grim reaper who comes down to earth every 99 years in order to punish humans. His fate seems to change once he meets Han GyeJeol (Im SooHyang), a hardworking, yet struggling doctor with a connection to his past life. The premise, combined with the lauded experience of its two main leads has many fans looking forward to the undoubtedly exciting ride that is "Kokdu: Season of Deity".

        The fantasy driven drama might have just released, but here are 4 reasons why you should watch "Kokdu: Season of Deity" this instant!

         

        1. Characters With Quirky Personalities

        This MBC drama is filled with countless characters that are extremely funny, in both actions and words. It will be hard to keep a straight face while watching "Kokdu: Season of Deity", as every other scene contains some happening that will put an immediate smile on your face. Whether it's an interaction between main leads or the supporting cast, they will say or do something that will strike every funny bone in your body.

        Even from behind the scenes footage, you are able to tell that their personalities are far from ordinary, promising an exciting and fun-filled ride!

        Kim JungHyun and Im SooHyang have proven themselves to be capable actors time and time again. With successful works like "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" and "Crash Landing on You", there is no doubt that these two will absolutely deliver—and already, with only two episodes in, they do not disappoint!

        Their comedic bickering is a breath of fresh air, making every moment as fun and enjoyable as the last. But their relationship is not only filled with mischief, as they share swoon-worthy stares and heart-racing advances towards one another. All we can do is wait and see how their relationship progresses, week after week.

         

        3. An Unwavering Romance

        Early on in the drama, we learn about KokDu and Han GyeJeol's ill-fated romance that has lasted centuries. Despite being given the opportunity to move onto the afterlife and start anew, KokDu remained, hoping to one day be reunited with his past lover. Thus, he became cursed and given the task of guiding souls to the underworld.

        Although, he never truly forgets about his beloved and continues to yearn for their meeting once again. In between the bouts of laughter, you will find the romance of "Kokdu: Season of Deity" pulling on your heartstrings, making it almost impossible to tear yourself away the screen. It's only the beginning and we're already hoping for the main characters' happy ending!

         

        4. Mix Of Lightheartedness and Depth

        Weekends are meant for fun and relaxation, but could also serve as a time for reflection. "Kokdu: Season of Deity" checks every box, delivering viewers bouts of laughter, while also exploring the human condition. Along with being entertaining to watch, the drama has also touched upon topics such as abuse and the trauma that comes with it.
