It is a fact that the K-Pop industry is filled with amazing vocalists both in experienced and rookie groups. Many of whom have immediately showcased their impressive skills and often piqued the interest of fans easily.
However, there are others who duly need time to grow and blossom into their talents as well. Some of these idols might have not been the instant favorite, their groups might have not been the most popular (which would've helped with their notoriety) and others might have just recently made their debut. But, with their unrelenting passion and consistent practice, they have shown that they are amazing artists who deserve as much recognition and appreciation as the rest.
Here are some of the male idols whose budding vocal talents make them special and deserving to be on your radar.
1. T1419's Kevin
In a group with many members, screen time during a performance is usually a couple of seconds but that is all Kevin needs to leave a lasting impression on the minds of viewers. His live vocals are sharp and filled with power, and his control and technique are quite impressive, especially considering the fierce and fast-paced choreography T1419 uses for their performances. 2. DKZ's KyoungYoon
We were all collectively in a state of awe when KyoungYoon hit that ATEEZ's JongHo-like note in DKZ's latest comeback 'Uh-Heung'. KyoungYoon continues to prove he is a budding all-rounder as he truly excels in all positions. As a vocalist, his tenor is strong and cuts through the air so effortlessly. His technique is also very impressive as from his vocalizations you can always hear a distinctive melodic sound that is often so soft and soothing like in this cover performance or fierce and striking like in 'Uh-Heung'. His dynamic and versatile skills are impressive and noteworthy.
3. TEMPEST's Hyuk
The TEMPEST members just can't stop shining as they are a group of stars whose members' budding talents truly shine in all positions. Vocally, they are a well-rounded team, as even their rappers have a melodic vocal tone that can make hearts melt. Hyuk is perhaps the one that truly stands out in the vocal department as his tone is so unique and special. It is hard to not notice him. He has a very youthful sound that truly embodies the cherry bright concept of TEMPEST. However, he still presents a level of power that hits the right emotions of his listener. His technique is pretty impressive, from his melodic adlibs, beautiful riffs, and runs, to his harmonies with his other members. He already presents such an impressive skill level and everyone needs to take notice of him.
4. TAN's JooAn
JooAn's voice is truly unique and remarkable. His technique, even at this early stage, feels strong and powerful. He usually sings with a very firm and powerful tone that immediately grabs and holds your attention, and then he infuses a softer and more airy tone into his performances that just sweetens the whole listening experience. Looking in, it feels like he knows and understands his gifts and is continuously fine-tuning them in the right ways that they effortlessly evoke a range of emotions in the minds and faces of his listeners.
5. EPEX's YeWang
It might not be farfetched to say listening to YeWang could serve as your gateway drug to the addictive feeling of bliss and excitement that is derived from EPEX's songs. The EPEX members are talented in their various positions and their vocal team is perhaps one of the most exciting from this generation. YeWang however, has a tone that is so special and striking, he can leave a lasting impression in the minds of his listeners. His technique is clearly impressive as he can fit his tone to any genre and deliver a 100% performance that would always draw levels of applause, admiration, and appreciation.
6. MIRAE's LIEN
His voice is like genuine cashmere, soft, comfortable, and priceless. While LIEN can seamlessly fit his vocals to adapt to any style and genre, however, when he does Ballads, that is where his vocal colors really shine the most. His range is bold and fearless. He doesn't just sing to showcase his amazing vocal tone though, rather, he clearly immerses himself into the song, understanding the message he wants to pass on to his listeners first, then beautifully conveying it in an emotional way that connects you, not just to him alone but to the song itself.
7. CRAVITY's SeongMin
SeongMin's high pitch-speaking voice already sounds melodious and when he sings, it is the sounds of angels as his vocals are truly heavenly. His tone is soft, and soothing, yet vibrant and often filled with power. He also has a very impressive range and hit high notes in such a clean and effortless manner that would leave you impressed.
8. JUST B's GeonU
GeonU has a tenor tone that is so attractive. In many of his performances and songs, when he fully displays his range, it is truly beautiful to watch. He has a bit of soulfulness in his vocals which can be heard through his adlibs or high notes in the group's performances. He already shows exceptional promise and if he continues on this path, with consistent training, he will invariably be one of the noteworthy vocalists in this generation.
