The highly anticipated sequel to the K-Drama "Tale of the Nine Tailed", titled "Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938", started airing recently and it is already grabbing attention worldwide. From the return of Lee Rang (played by Kim Beom), to the celebrated addition of Kim SoYeon and Ryu KyungSoo to the cast, this season is gearing up for exceptional success.

Two episodes of "Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938" have been released so far, dealing with the tales of Dong BangSak and the Three Worms. The former, which appears in the first episode, is played by THE BOYZ's YoungHoon. At first glance, Dong BangSak is portrayed as a kind and benevolent figure who shares his everlasting life span with those in need.
Soon, it is revealed that his morality is rather skewed, especially when he is willing to let an old man sell his daughter off for more years added to his life. Even though he first pretends to "save" the young girl from a terrible fate, he soon drains her of her life force, stealing and consuming her youth for himself.

Later, Lee Yeon (played by Lee DongWook) strikes a deal with Dong BangSak whereby he would save Lee Rang's life in exchange for Yeon finding Uturi's sword for him. Uturi's sword is Dong BangSak's kryptonite, but knowing that wouldn't make Yeon get it for him. So, he puts on an act expressing his desire to die and the sword being his only way to achieve that end.
Although it seems like Yeon falls for his trick at first, he is more cautious than ever when it comes to his brother. So, when he discovers his true face, a showdown ensues. Ultimately it is exposed that Dong BangSak is actually the Leatherback Turtle- one of the 10 Symbols of Longevity and with Rang's help, Yeon brings him down.

These short-form stories of mythical monsters from Asian folklore have been a characteristic of this series, and fans are excited about more to come, even more so when the very first villain has left such a deep impression. With his versatility on full display, YoungHoon's portrayal of Dong BangSak is generating quite a buzz online.
From his initial gentleness, complimented by his ethereal visuals, to his eventual corruption, expressed by the madness in his eyes and the intimidation in his voice, YoungHoon has proven his innate talent for acting once again. In particular, YoungHoon's ability to stand up to experienced leading actors like Lee DongWook and Kim Beom as a convincing villain is worth high praise.
With this glimpse of YoungHoon as a villain, we are even more excited to see what he will have in store for us next. Moreover, YoungHoon has also displayed his knack for the action genre in this episode, as his execution of the action scenes is impressive, to say the least. In conclusion, YoungHoon's future as an actor is bright, and we could not be more thrilled.
