VAV is a boy group under A TEAM ENTERTAINMENT consisting of members: St. Van, Ace, Ayno, Jacob, Lou, and Ziu. Their name means 'Very Awesome Voice' and they made their debut in 2015 with the mini album titled, "Under the Moonlight."
Their unique blend of pop, R&B, and EDM creates an infectious sound that hooks listeners instantly. With their dynamic choreography and powerful vocals, VAV has showcased their versatility through various releases, including 'Senorita,' 'Give Me More,' and 'Made for Two.' Beyond their musical talents, VAV members have also shown their charismatic personalities through variety shows and fan interactions, making them a beloved group among K-Pop enthusiasts worldwide.

On June 12th, 2023, VAV returned with their 7th mini album titled, "Subcönscióus" after a long hiatus of two years and nine months. "Subcönscióus" signifies the hidden part of the mind and conveys a message of hope and self-empowerment. The members actively participated in the production of all five songs in the album, showcasing their artistic growth and passion for this comeback.
The title track, 'Designer,' continues their Latin-influenced music style, following their previous releases 'Senorita' and 'Give Me More.' Written by members Lou and Ayno, 'Designer' emphasizes the idea that everyone possesses the ability to shape their own life, likening individuals to designers. This album represents VAV's continued exploration of their musical style while delivering a message of personal agency and creativity.
Kpopmap was thrilled with the opportunity to discuss VAV's new album and career for this comeback.
To start off, can you introduce yourselves and tell us your favorite food?
Hi, I’m St. Van, the leader of the group. My favorite food is my mom’s home-cooked meal. You can’t compare that with anything else.

Hello, I’m Ace, the prince of VAV. I love pork, especially pork belly.

Hi, I’m Ayno, the princess of VAV. I love all sorts of meat.

Hi, I’m Jacob. I enjoy eating anything spicy and savory.

With the recent release of your seventh mini album, “Subcönscióus” which song in particular did you feel the most emotionally connected to?
I really like the song, 'Reason.' The song comforts my heart with its warm melody and lyrics.

How would you describe the musical style and concept of VAV for this comeback?
All of the members participated in a lot of the production process, so I think the concept and the music of this comeback really go well with VAV like a well-tailored suit.

Is there a particular memory or event in preparing for this album that you can share with the readers?
We had to dance during very hot weather for the music video. The sun was so bright that we couldn’t keep our eyes open which made us worry, but the final music video is phenomenal and we are satisfied with it!

Is there a concept that you haven’t done that you would like to explore in the future?
Personally, I want to try hip hop.
St. Van
A hip-hop concept is something I want to try. The members like to rap and love having fun, so it would be interesting to try music with some hip-hop beats.

It’s already been quite a few years and you’re on your seventh mini album. It’s quite an impressive career so far! How do you think the group has changed and progressed since your debut?
I think the members influence each other positively as we all try our best in the things we do. Considering the time we have spent together, we know each other so well by now, and the fact that we know what suits each of the members allows us to grow more.

What message do you hope your fans and listeners get from this album?
I want them to grasp the message that all of us shine and we hope they can boost their self-esteem by listening to this album.
Lou
When you are not doing music, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Something that I’m into lately is kickboxing. I want to learn it when I get some time.
St. Van
I try to practice my guitar whenever I get a chance.
Ace
I enjoy bike rides by the Han River. It makes all my stress go away.
Ayno
I like to watch dramas and work out, so that’s how I spend my time.
Jacob
I like to be on my phone, lying in my bed all day.
Lou
I exercise and go on an adventure to find good restaurants around Korea. I also watch a lot of movies.
Ziu

What has been the best moment of your career together as a group so far?
Every moment that we performed in front of our fans.
Jacob
You have an upcoming tour in Latin America. Is there a certain food you are looking forward to trying or a place you’re excited to visit while you’re on tour?
I am a meat lover, so I want to try all the meat dishes from different countries. For instance, I really enjoyed churrasco when I was in Brazil, so I hope to try famous meat dishes from other Latin countries.

I want to try going into the Amazon River.
