From the start of their journey on the survival program “I-LAND” in 2020 to becoming one of 4th generation K-Pop’s most popular and successful boy groups, ENHYPEN have quickly risen to the top of K-Pop. Although the members are all still so young, they have already achieved so much and will continue to do great things in the industry as the years come. 

The Kpopmap Fan Interview Project is intended to be a great place where any K-Pop fan is welcome to let us know why they love their favourite group and bias. It’s a chance to talk about anything from their music, their admirable personalities to the impact they’ve had in their fans’ lives. Covering such aspects, there are many things that have been said about what idols mean to their fans. 

This week, we take a look at what ENGENE from around the world had to say about their favourite group, ENHYPEN.

Here are quotes from ENGENE on how ENHYPEN made their lives better.

1. Perfect role models for Gen Z

On the survival program “I-LAND”, ENHYPEN competed against other trainees and endured challenges to make the final line-up. It has now been almost three years since their debut and for fans who have watched them since their time on “I-LAND”, they have found ENHYPEN to be inspiring role models. Moreover, their ages (currently 17 to 21 years old) make them more relatable and inspiring. 

Filipino ENGENE Mary is one of these fans who look up to ENHYPEN. “In July 2020, I saw a video of HeeSeung during "I-LAND" on YouTube. I was just casually browsing and watching some BTS contents/videos, and saw a video of HeeSeung being a selfless leader in "I-LAND". From that moment, I started watching "I-LAND" and supported him and the other members up until now.”

She especially admires her bias, HeeSeung, and his “selfless and kind personality”. She says, “"I-LAND" is a survival show, a competition, yet HeeSeung allotted most of his energy and time teaching and guiding other trainees to ensure they'll do well as a team. Who wouldn't fall in love with this kind of personality and attitude?”

Similarly, Sakura, an Estonian ENGENE, was drawn to ENHYPEN because of how good of a role model they are. “The reason why I love ENHYPEN is their talent, their attitude, how hardworking they are and definitely their humor.”

2. Their outlook on the world and life

ENHYPEN often share some lessons they’ve learned along the way with ENGENE. 

Filipino ENGENE Seki remembers what Jay wrote in a Weverse post in 2022. He wrote, “The world cannot always be beautiful” (quote was translated by @enhypenweverse on Twitter). Seki particularly liked these words by Jay “as it gives you that realization that indeed, nothing will ever be perfect and beautiful. His message was meaningful and impactful.”

1st Official from the only Egyptian fanbase for HeeSeung really liked it when HeeSeung said, “I can't be perfect in every process but I should do my best. I should try harder as much as I'm interested.”

3. Their skill and dedication as idols 

The joy of seeing ENHYPEN do what they do best makes each day that ENGENE spend with them that much better. 

Seki from the Philippines recommends B-sides ‘Fever’ or ‘Polaroid Love’ to new fans. “Listen to those and you’ll definitely fall in love with their dancing for 'Fever' and their vocal tones for 'Polaroid Love'!”

She also described the charms of each of the members’ vocals. Some of the explanations she gave were that “HeeSeung has that wide range and trendy voice that you would definitely want to hear everyday!”, “SungHoon has that calming and romantic vocal. Like hearing a song during winter and spring!” and “Ni-ki, their maknae, has a dark voice. He sounded so good when he sang in his deep voice!”

For Egyptian ENGENE Melly and Nada, their attraction towards ENHYPEN’s skills as idols goes all the way back to “I-LAND”. Melly says “I watched "I-LAND" by chance and I really like Jay and SungHoon performing '7th Sense' together. I kept watching them through the show and wanted to be a part of their journey till now”.

For Nada, it was Sunoo and Ni-Ki who caught her attention. “Sunoo's angelic voice amazes me and Ni-Ki's dance skill is really attractive.” 

Egyptian ENGENE Menii loves her bias, Jake, and describes him as “a stage genius” whose “performance will attract you in no time.”

Collectively, Melly, Nada and Menii highlight that “the 7 members of ENHYPEN are all rounded and the most important thing is that they're still learning things and trying to find their passion in the music industry like songwriting, producing, etc.”

4. The positivity they bring to ENGENE’s lives

Watching their beloved idols have made positive impacts to ENGENE’s lives in many ways. 

Ruey from the Philippines has delved into the Korean language through watching ENHYPEN content. “I am able to learn or to understand Korean...” In general, she also feels very happy seeing her biases. “My biases are SunJayWon(Sunoo, Jay, JungWon). I just like this trio and I'm very happy when I see them together.”

Another ENGENE from the Philippines tells us how ENHYPEN has made her life richer. “They influence me in dancing and also in learning the Aussie accent.” Because of them she has also started “learning Korean and also dancing/singing.” When asked what the first and last lines of a book about ENHYPEN she would write would be, she said they would be “came unexpectedly and gave happiness" and “I know you don't know me but remember I love you".
