PENTAGON’s main rapper, only Japanese member and one third of Mayonnaise (PENTAGON’s maknae line), Yuto is a member who quietly finds his way into the hearts of UNIVERSE. Looks can be deceiving. Yuto may seem like the cold and serious member of the group but there are so many more aspects to him than his first impression may let on. It doesn’t always have to be the loud, extroverted characters who charm fans. Sometimes it’s the quiet ones who you want to get to know and find yourself falling for.

From playing the guitar to always being well-mannered and considerate, let’s look at what makes Yuto so charming.

1. Always a hard worker

One of Yuto’s stand-out traits is his hardworking nature. Whenever the members talk about him, they always praise him for his diligence in whatever he does.

As one of PENTAGON’s two foreign members, he has worked hard to study Korean and get to the high proficiency he is at now. The members have talked about how, during their trainee days, Yuto could often be found in one of the study rooms in the company building late at night studying Korean. He now speaks Korean so well that the members sometimes forget that he is actually Japanese.

With his highly proficient Korean skills, he writes lyrics in Korean for PENTAGON’s songs and translates lyrics into Japanese.

He is also consistent with working out in the gym. He wakes up early in the morning to hit the gym and finds time in between schedules even when they’re overseas.

The members worry that he might be overworking himself since he never complains when things get tough but Yuto always says that he enjoys what he does.

2. Learned how to play the guitar

For the last few years, Yuto has been learning to play the guitar on his own. He has been consistently practising in his personal studio in the company building and has been letting us in on his progress with short videos of his guitar covers. Playing guitar really suits Yuto as he already has a naturally cool aura as an idol.

He also recently got to flaunt his guitar skills in a song of his own. The composition, lyrics and guitar were all by him and the dark, moody ambience of the song perfectly reflects his style as an artist.

3. Loves WooSeok

All the members of PENTAGON love and treasure each other deeply as a family would and PENTAGON fans, UNIVERSE, know very well that Yuto is greatly fond of WooSeok. Yuto and WooSeok are exactly a week apart in age and are part of Mayonnaise (PENTAGON’s maknae line) alongside Kino. They spend a lot of time together, whether it’s in their studios or just on call to each other while they do their thing. Though they have different personalities and energies, they always seem to happily spend time together.

4. Always wears black

Black is a staple in Yuto’s closet. Although his stage outfits are all different styles and colours, his personal clothes are pretty much all black with some grey, white and denim clothes too. He was actually once told that he should try wearing brighter colours for good luck but he loves black so much because he finds it to be a very calming colour to wear.

5. Has a deep voice but a high-pitched laugh

Yuto may seem intimidating at first with his straight face, strong features and tall stature but don’t let that fool you. He is someone who laughs easily and, despite having a deep rapping and speaking voice, has a high-pitched laugh.

6. Manner and consideration is ingrained within him
