3 Song Cover Series By PENTAGON Members

        PENTAGON Twitter

Cube Entertainment’s boy group, PENTAGON, consists of highly talented and charismatic members. From singing, dancing, rapping and even composing, the members are one of the best at what they do in the K-Pop industry.

PENTAGON are known to be a versatile group and over their six years together, their concepts have gone from one extreme to the other; from soft and cute to intense and sexy.

Outside of PENTAGON’s official activities, the group’s vocalists have been eager to show off their colours in their own song cover series on YouTube. Listening to their song covers, fans are exposed to different sides of them as performers.

        JinHo - “MAGAZINE HO”

“MAGAZINE HO” started back in February 2017 with a cover of ‘If It Was You’, an OST sung by Jung SeungHwan for the drama “Another Miss Oh”. Over the years, JinHo has covered a wide range of styles from something groovy to something soft and emotional or even strong and powerful concepts. Each cover showcases his versatile and flawless voice that amazes fans of PENTAGON and non-fans alike.

His covers are of songs of different languages; Korean, English and Japanese.

He has also held concerts for “MAGAZINE HO”. The first concert, titled “MAGAZINE HO Mini Live”, was held on Mar. 17, 2018. The second concert, “Mini Live Magazine Vol. 2” was held in January 2019 and exactly a year later, “Mini Live Magazine Ho Vol. 3 - OFF STAGE -” was held.

In 2022, he released one cover per month and so far in 2023, he has been doing the same.

Here are a couple of the best covers in the “MAGAZINE HO” playlist.

        YanAn - “SING-NEMATIC”

YanAn has his own series that is cleverly named “SING-NEMATIC” to denote the combination of heavenly vocals with cinematic aesthetics. Each cover flaunts the tenderness and purity of YanAn’s voice that cannot be mistaken for anyone else.

There are only two covers in the series as of now, both of which were released in 2021.

One of them is a classic Chinese love song, ‘The Moon Represents My Heart’, which was popularised in 1977 by Taiwanese singer, Teresa Teng. With the warm-toned visual aesthetics, YanAn’s outfit and the antique concept of the video, the romantic essence of the song is brought out clearly.

The other one is of ‘Me To You, You To Me (너에게 난, 나에게 넌)', an OST of the 2003 movie, “The Classic”. While still visually pleasing, the video is simple and laidback so that we can focus on the vibe of the song and appreciate the singer himself.

        HongSeok - “HONG Seasons”

“HONG Seasons” is the series that is made to engulf listeners in the sentimental ambience of HongSeok’s voice and his song choice. His warm vocals suit ballads and soft, mellow pop songs and these are exactly the type of songs that the series is composed of. To enhance HongSeok’s poignant voice, the visual aesthetics of the videos typically use cool tones and are set in scenic locations such as a colourful meadow and the city at night time.

The series began in June 2020 with a cover of Sam Smith’s ‘To Die For’. Since then, 11 covers have been released, including Korean and English songs.

These are two covers from the series that exhibit the style of “HONG Seasons”.
