Allen is one of the nine amazingly talented and delightful members of Starship Entertainment’s boy group, CRAVITY. The members of CRAVITY each are idols of great skill and admirable personalities, drawing in new fans each day and making existing LUVITY love them more as time goes by.
They all have their own charms that distinguish their place in the group. From penguins to singing and being a successful SHAWOL, let’s look at the many aspects that make Allen so charming.
1. He speaks incredibly good Korean
Out of the many foreign idols active in Korea, Allen is undoubtedly one of the idols with the best Korean skills. The Taiwanese-American idol has an extensive vocabulary and his pronunciation is like that of a native speaker. It would be very easy to mistake him for a native speaker based on his command of the Korean language.
His Korean is so good that the members jokingly comment that he is actually Korean. During their YouTube livestream celebrating their 3rd debut anniversary, the members wrote profiles for each other. One of the sections was about the member’s role in the group and for Allen, they wrote that his role is being a Korean person.
Even during episode 78 of “CRAVITY PARK” where they have a field day and pretend to be Olympic athletes, they say that Allen is an athlete from Korea.

Not only can he speak Korean but he also speaks English having been raised in the US since the age of five and speaks Mandarin as he comes from a Taiwanese background.
2. He isn’t the group’s main dancer for no reason
Alongside HyeongJun, Allen is one of the main dancers in CRAVITY. Dance is ingrained in who Allen is as a person and watching him do what he does best will make you believe that he was born to be a performer. Watch him in their dance practice video for their 2021 title track, ‘Gas Pedal’. (He is the one in the grey t-shirt and chain necklace)
He also shined when he performed BEAST’s iconic song, ‘Shock’, alongside MinHee, SeongMin and JungMo.
He leads the group's choreography and monitors all of their performances so that every move in their choreography is as perfect as it can be. This can be seen in backstage footage of them in San Francisco for “KCON 2022 U.S. Tour”.

The members also see him as their dance teacher. MinHee has said that the relationship between him and Allen is like that of a dance teacher and student.

3. Not only does he dance and rap, he also sings
Although Allen is the main dancer and a rapper in the group, his vocals are impeccable. He has highlighted his sweet, smooth vocals in many covers including that of Young K’s ‘goodnight my dear’, GOT7’s ‘Miracle’ and Jay Park’s ‘Yesterday’.
He even sings in one of their latest songs, ‘Cheese’.
4. He is a kind softie with a loving heart for his members
LUVITY knows that Allen is a kind softie with a loving heart for his members. He has a bright yet gentle nature about him that shows he cares for those around him.
For “KCON:TACT 2020 SUMMER”, MinHee had an online collaboration stage with their company senior MONSTA X’s KiHyun. Feeling the emotions of the song they sang and seeing MinHee collaborate with a senior they respect so much, Allen couldn’t help but shed some tears.

During episode 8 of “CRAVITY PARK”, the members each had a secret member they had to complete missions on. They also spent time making meals for the person who had them as their secret member. HyeongJun’s secret member was Allen. When it was time to reveal everyone’s secret members and give them their meals, Allen felt bad that he had made something that HyeongJun couldn’t eat because he had wisdom tooth pain at the time. However, the members were touched that he felt bad for HyeongJun and accepted the thought that went into the meal.

During episode 61 of “CRAVITY PARK”, the members were having a quiz with questions about various topics. One of those was about unexpected touching moments within the group. SeRim wrote that he was touched when Allen said, “Look at that, SeRim”. It sounds like quite a random, fleeting moment but the emotional impact it had on SeRim was a lot deeper than it may have seemed.

5. His representative animal is a penguin
Idols nowadays have a representative animal that resembles them. For Allen, it’s a penguin because of his facial features and cuteness. The CRAVITY members have their own CCREW characters just as many other idol groups have their own characters. Allen’s one is an empress penguin with a dumpling mask that is appropriately named ‘Queeni’.

6. A successful SHAWOL
One of the most known facts about Allen is that he is a massive SHAWOL. Although he’s an idol, he’s also a fan of idols like us. SHINee, especially TaeMin, were the ones who got him into K-Pop and inspired him to be a star on the world stage like them.
Recently, he has had many encounters and chances to meet the SHINee members.
At KCON LA 2023, Allen and TaeMin stood next to each other on the same stage. Allen was visibly nervous about how to act around him, wondering if it was OK to talk to him. Eventually he did take the chance to tell him that he is a big fan of his and it was a great moment for him.
