5 Underappreciated Korean Artists That Need A Breakthrough In Fall 2023

WM Entertainment / MYSTIC Story / MLD Entertainment

The Korean music scene has taken off in recent years and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. With the introduction of more Korean artists being included in Billboard charts, overseas award shows, and more, many talents are presented to the world. However, a lot of these artists are underappreciated despite the growing Korean music community. They may not get the most attention, despite having some fantastic music and messages that could resonate with others.

Many people think it may be hard to get into underappreciated artists since there are too many groups nowadays. They don’t know where to start anymore after stanning multiple groups. We’ve got you covered! From the girls to the boys, soloists to groups, here are 5 underappreciated artists that we think need a breakthrough in Fall 2023.

        1. Lapillus

Lapillus are giving a new spin on the fierce, girl crush vibes and they deserve all the recognition. Lapillus is a 6 member group under MLD Entertainment who are on the path to becoming well-known superstars. From their stylish fashion, savage songs, and aesthetic music videos, Lapillus are majorly underappreciated. The group debuted in 2022 with their single ‘Hit Ya!’, instantly grabbing the attention of people with their unshakable confidence and powerful performances. While they are gradually gaining popularity in the K-Pop world, we think they deserve some more praise for their talents. Did we also mention they have some amazing b-sides as well?

        2. ONF

ONF are refreshing, unique, and here to make their mark on the K-Pop world. ONF is a 6 member boy group under WM Entertainment with an interesting concept. The group debuted in 2017 with the lead single ‘ON/OFF’. The group consists of 2 subunits, ON Team and OFF Team. ON Team focuses on vocals whereas OFF Team focuses on performances. Together, the group aims to show their charms on and off the stage. This shows their true dedication to their craft which is why we think they deserve more attention. Not only that but their concepts are very interesting, incorporating dystopian and futuristic visuals into some of their music videos. Their songs are catchy, vibrant, and hard to get out of your head once you listen to them.

        3. TABBER

TABBER is a rising alternative soloist under you.will.knovv. Releasing his first mixtape 'Deep End' in 2020, TABBER has taken many strides to change the music scene. Art is an influence in his creative process, taking inspiration from films, photography, and architecture. His debut mixtape has dark and dystopian vibes, setting the mood for his musical sound. Despite being relatively new, he already worked alongside artists like punchnello, DEAN, and even the American artist, Syd. He deserves more recognition for all the hard work and artistry that he releases in the music world.

        4. Billlie

Not afraid to show off their weird or quirky side, Billlie’s individuality is why we had to add them to this list. Billlie is a 7 member group under Mystic Story who are changing the way girl groups are seen in K-Pop. They are unique in their own way from their name, to their concepts and even their debut date, which had three 1’s in it for Nov. 10, 2021, just like the group’s name having three L’s. Billlie’s discography is diverse, the group has already experimented with soft, fun, and hard-hitting concepts. They know how to have fun when they are performing and their excitement radiates on stage when they are performing. They need a breakthrough because of how much effort they put into everything they do!

        5. Colde

An all-rounder artist with a love for all things artsy and hypnotizing vocals, Colde is a singer and member of the duo group OFFONOFF. His sound can be best described as indie, colorful, and hipster. If you’re a TikTok fanatic, you may have heard his notable song 'WA-R-R'. He has worked on songs for major names in the K-Pop industry such as BTS’ RM and EXO’s BaekHyun. Coming from an artistic background, Colde enjoys incorporating art into his videos and sounds. Colde’s talent is out of this world and we think his voice and message should be heard by many more music enjoyers.
