Exclusive Review : Sunday Funday Better Than a Monday, FANATICS Debut Mini Album “THE SIX” Media Showcase
A 6 membered new girl group called “FANATICS ” has made their first debut on August 6th, 2019 and added another layer to the K-Pop industry. The group previously have been introduced to the K-Pop world in November 2018, with their subunit called “Flavor ”, including the member, DoAh , Chiayi , and YoonHye . For those who have watched “Produce 48”, there are familiar faces as DoAh and ChaeLin are amongst the group members.
2 other members of the FANATICS are DoI who is the Unni of the group and Sika , the leader and main vocalist in the group! (Sika is also known to be an ex-trainee from JYP Entertainment).
Kpopmap attended their very first media showcase and witnessed to see how the six girls will be taking their first steps in the K-Pop industry.
Their first album, “THE SIX” consists total of 4 tracks including, “지금 이순간을(REMEMBER)”, “Follow Me”, the Chinese version of “MILKSHAKE”(which was previously introduced by the group’s sub-unit, ‘Flavor’) and their title, “SUNDAY”
The first song they have prepared for the showcase was “Follow Me”. This Hip Hop and R&B mixed track added with a repetitive synth melody is a song that you can be hooked quite easily which narrates about a girl in love expressing her feelings with confidence.
Another point that the listeners may catch from the song is the gun loading sound right before the chorus comes in and the scissors sound effects that richen the song’s theme.
The group’s first performance didn’t seem like their first. Live vocals were stable, and the choreography was well synched. Especially, the main vocalist, Sika’s voice really stood out and embellished the song.
After their first performance, a short interview and a photo time were given for the media. Every member had a unique pose and facial expression and literally showed us the diverse charms each member holds. It felt like different layers of colors emerged and formed a 6-layered rainbow.
With the last shutter, the girls went back to prepare for their second performance which was the album’s title, “SUNDAY”.
“SUNDAY” is a cute themed track with full of tropical sounds with bright energy. The song depicts a person wishing that it would be great if every day would be Sunday.
What reader’s might want to look into, besides the song is their choreography. With its bright bouncy tune, they included moves like ‘oh nanana’-esque steps, mixing it with gorgeous ballet moves. It seemed like watching a piece of performance art. The song didn’t have a strong drop or a dramatic change but still had a strong energy that carried out the whole song.
With that, the group “FANATICS” have officially and successfully made their first ever impressive debut! All the best to their K-Pop journey!!
