Choi WooShik Or Kim SungCheol: Which Ung From "Our Beloved Summer" Would You Date?

One of the most beloved K-Dramas on air at the moment is the romantic comedy "Our Beloved Summer", starring Choi WooShik as Choi Ung, Kim DaMi as Kook YeonSu, and Kim SungCheol as Kim JiUng. It tells the story of two high school students who couldn't be farther apart in terms of personality who have to stick together for the sake of a documentary. Inevitably, it leads to their love story which also leads to their separation and eventual reunion years later.

Choi Ung was a terrible student in high school but he loved reading books and lying in the shade. Kook YeonSu on the other hand, is a straight-A student who gives off the impression of being uptight, unreasonable, and overall, no fun. Both of them are drawn to each other like moths to a flame but their relationship ends up burning out. The reason for this is later revealed to be rooted in YeonSu's psyche rather than a lack of love, which leaves ample scope for them to get back together when they're more mature and weathered.

Kook YeonSu hides behind her tough and indifferent facade but in reality, she's a soft and gentle soul who just cannot let the world see her vulnerabilities. Having been forced to grow up at a very young age, YeonSu leaves no space for herself to dream or see the world from a child's eyes. She is impulsive and hard on herself but loves others more than she could ever think of loving herself.

Choi Ung is playful and innocent but he is not naive. He's a master at his art and takes it seriously. When he's working, he is a sight to behold: poised, focused, and driven. However, when he's afraid of confrontation, he runs away just like he used to when he was 5 years old. He is sensitive but not very sensible as he can often speak without thinking. At the same time, he means no malice. Choi Ung loves with all his heart and isn't afraid to admit it. He is protective but in a way that makes his significant other feel emotionally safe with him. He might as well be the manic pixie dream boy of Kook YeonSu's life.

Kim JiUng has been Choi Ung's best friend ever since they were children. From food to family, they shared it all. JiUng also falls in love with YeonSu at first sight but takes a step back when he realizes that Choi Ung and YeonSu have feelings for each other. This is a man who knows where his loyalties lie and never does he ever try to sabotage their relationship, even after they have broken up. JiUng is charming, ambitious, caring, and extremely good-looking. His sense of humour might be a little bit on the dry side but he knows exactly how to cheer someone up. Husband material, we say!
