Yours Truly, Lee ChanHyeong: "I'm Reading Comments From Fans", Memento From "The Uncanny Counter", Playing Football & More | Exclusive Interview

        Mystic Story

A very warm welcome to Kpopmap, Lee ChanHyeong! It’s a pleasure to have you with us today. Can you tell us about your day before this interview?

Hello. I'm honored to do this interview with you. Today, I attended Seoul Fashion Week, took photos at the photo wall, and also watched the fashion shows.

You are receiving immense love from all over the world for your character Kwon SuHo in “The Uncanny Counter” and “The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch”. Fans are thoroughly enjoying your acting as well as your stunning visuals. Have you been reading fans’ comments and messages of support? If you could reply to all your global fans today through this interview, what would you say?

I'm reading comments from fans a lot. I read them after they've been translated, and I also see the comments where people leave translations. Those comments give me give me strength and motivation even when it’s hard. I'm always grateful. I hope that one day, I'll have the chance to meet you all in person and say hello.

Kwon SuHo is a character who has touched fans’ hearts and is as much a part of fans’ lives as it is of yours. Years down the line, how do you think you will remember SuHo?

I have many memories and good experiences through SuHo. Even as time passes, it will remain as the most precious starting point in my memories. I think it's because it's the character from the first work where I greeted fans on TV.

SuHo has had some incredibly sentimental scenes in the show that made us both smile and cry. When acting, do you feel those emotions yourself, or are you able to detach your character’s feelings from your own?

Although it may vary for each character, there isn't a significant difference between SuHo and my own thoughts or personality, so I immersed myself in SuHo's positive emotions and acted while feeling them.

        Mystic Story

When acting in a fantasy setting, how do you bring conviction to your character and the story that you’re telling?

In terms of the work, it has a strong fantasy element, but when you focus on the relationships between the characters, I thought there wasn't a significant difference from reality. So, I tried to concentrate more on and immerse myself in the dynamics between the individual characters.

Has the experience of watching films or dramas as a viewer changed in any way as you became an actor?

Unlike before, I sometimes find myself unintentionally getting immersed when I see scenes or locations that appear either cold or hot compared to my actual surroundings (laughs). However, I make an effort not to let that break my focus on the drama.

For an actor, each work holds deeper significance than just being another title in your filmography. So, I’m curious. What kind of hopes or expectations do you have for yourself as an actor before starting a project?

I'm always excited about the start of a new project because I'm looking forward to working with good colleagues and developing good chemistry with them. I also hope to finish the project in good health without getting injured.

Your upcoming film “You Did Great!” is gaining a lot of attention. Please tell your global fans a little bit about your character and what they can look forward to!

I have a lot of affection for “You Did Great!” personally, and I will appear in a new look that is not the usual image shown in my other works. I have put in a lot of effort to change my image, so please look forward to it!

Life Behind the Lens - Lee ChanHyeong’s Perspective

Yours Truly, Lee ChanHyeong: "I'm Reading Comments From Fans", Memento From "The Uncanny Counter", Playing Football & More | Exclusive Interview

        Mystic Story

While working as an actor, have you ever felt the urge to show more of Lee ChanHyeong as a person to fans?

I am trying to post a lot of photos of my daily life and work on Instagram so that I can show more of myself. I am usually shy about taking pictures, but I am taking a lot of pictures to show them to my fans.

What do you think is the coolest side of you as an individual that you want your global fans to see?

I want to show you my acting, but I hope I have a chance to show you my football skills one day, as I am a former football player.

What is your favorite compliment to hear as an actor vs. as a person?

I'm always grateful and happy for any compliment, whether it's as an actor or as a person. But the compliment I’m most grateful for is when someone says "I really enjoyed your acting" and encourages me.

Your Instagram is a hot topic among fans for your “boyfriend style” photos. Do you put a lot of thought behind your Instagram posts? What's the secret to capturing both an approachable and heart-fluttering look in photos at the same time?

I put a lot of thought into it. I want to show you a better version of myself, so I carefully choose which photos to post after asking my friends and family for their opinions.

We want to know Lee ChanHyeong’s tips for de-stressing.

There are many ways, such as eating delicious food, watching movies, running, and going to cafes. I plan to continue to create new secrets to minimize stress.

How do you like to spend your day off?

I prefer to go out and meet friends or be active rather than stay at home. It seems that even when I have something to do, I do it at a cafe.

Do you have any special way of celebrating when you achieve something and feel proud of yourself? We’re curious about when you felt proud and what kind of reward you gave yourself!

When I get into a new project or pass an audition, I give myself a gift of clothes. It is the number one reward I want to receive from myself because I love fashion.

        Mystic Story

What is the meaning behind your Instagram username?

Nakktaa is pronounced 'nak-ta' (meaning camel) in Korean, and it is my nickname. My friends have been calling me this nickname since I was 10 years old because I resemble a camel.

What is the last thing you wrote in your phone’s note app?

I have a list of things to do today and this week. I am a spontaneous and yet organized person, so I often take simple notes.

Can you tell us about a new hobby you have picked up lately?

I recently started playing tennis and golf. I think sports are truly the most fun hobby. I want to learn a little bit of every sport.

What is your favorite thing to do after getting off from work?

Watch dramas at home while eating delicious food. It's the time when I feel the most relaxed and happy.

What do you believe in more: zodiac signs, MBTI, or blood type?

At least, I find MBTI a little interesting. I get different results every time I take it, but I always get either ENFP or ESFP.

If you could take any prop from the set of “The Uncanny Counter” as a memento, what would it be and why?

A photo with Chu MaeOk (Yeom HyeRan). I think it is a photo that makes me feel emotional and think of many things just by looking at it.
