3 Qualities Needed To Become A Rapper As Described By Jay Park

        Harper's BAZAAR Korea

Although he has roots as a K-Pop idol, Jay Park has transformed into a representative of hip-hop. He has helped to mold K-Hip-Hop into what it is today, forming a bridge between mainstream K-Pop and hip-hop/R&B. To further his reach, Jay Park has founded various ventures within the music industry, and just recently began to cultivate his very own soju brand.

Since he's such an influential figure, many brands and companies have naturally reached out to work with the artist. After becoming a Gucci ambassador, Harper's BAZAAR Korea invited the singer for a photoshoot. Besides the charismatic pictorial, Jay Park also filmed a content video which talked about "The Standard Of Hip-Hop." Jay Park answered a variety of questions, including what it takes to become a rapper.

Check out the qualities he lists down below!

        1. Sincerity

On the outside, rappers are incredibly charismatic when they take the stage, providing performances that reach a new level of cool. However, in Jay Park's eyes, for those that want to continue rapping for years to come, they must have sincerity. They're artists who do not follow trends or simply talk about "flex" and "swagger." Rappers write about various topics, including the present concerns of the people around them.

        2. Passion

Jay Park lists passion as the second trait a rapper must have. While he doesn't go into too much detail, he states that passion is an essential quality, not just for rappers, but for every walk of life. Passion is the energy source that drives people forward and encourages them to never give up. As the music industry is often harsh and cutthroat, passion can take an individual a long way as they discover what path to take.

        3. Hard Work

Harper's BAZAAR Korea translates the third quality as "hard work." However, the literal translation also comes out as "effort that makes you bleed." While a much more graphic description, sometimes simple hard work might not cut it. A person needs to be willing to pour an immeasurable amount of time into their craft to hone and perfect it. With fluctuating music trends, an aspiring rapper must be willing to go the distance in order to become a reputable and versatile artist.
